They're quite subtle!
New maps
Full postcode entry
New levels of map zoom
In-map drop-down menu for commonly-used options (select Map Menu in Options to enable)
Better phone integration (call lists are working correctly with my HTC ONE now)
Improvements to various functions on the PCM - Sound options, sport display, Bluetooth, + some I've not found yet
Improved sound quality from the tuner - I guess it updated the tuner's firmware too.
Will let you know when/if I find more....

There's a bug in the first version of PCM that was delivered with the 7 digit postcode last year, which was fixed in v4. I was wondering if this update also fixes it....
When you enter destinations using postcode only, which is the easiest way of course, it doesn't populate the recent destinations list properly. The destinations are all there, but they have no title in the list, so they're just blank entries until you go into them, which then displays just the postcode.
The later version populated the list with something (can't remember exactly what, but it all made sense).
Can you have a look on yours?
The later one also added album artwork from mp3s.
Cheers,
Stephen

The firmware in my PCM has been updated to version 2.24 - this is apparently the version required to install the new nav update. My girlfriend's Boxster is a year newer then my 911 (and had a newer version of the PCM firmware to start with) but this also required updating to version 2.24 as part of the nav update procedure. I can't find anywhere that displays the version of the nav software (as distinct from the overall PCM firmware version) so can't comment on which version it might be.S
On to the postcodes and storing destinations. In a nutshell, yes, this is fixed in the current update.
What's stored appears to be dependent on the postcode. For example, if I input the postcode for the road where I live and then hit Start Route Guidance, the road name + Manchester is stored in the Previous Destinations list. If I input the postcode of a building that has its own unique postcode (I tried this with an office complex Manchester) then just 'Manchester' is stored in the Previous Destinations list. I guess the name of the road is in the nav (map/destination) software, whilst the name of the office building isn't.
As for album artwork, unfortunately, I don't have a compatible MP3 player to hand, so wasn't able to test this for you.

quick update as had mine upgraded yesterday.
On the PCM side of things one good update was that the phone connection now supports switching the connection profile between handsfree profile and Sim access profile.
The only way to switch prior to this update was via a trip to the local OPC.

Where do I find this in the PCM menus?
Just had mine upgraded today at Hatfield for £149.99
It has an "interesting" interpretation of my home postcode and actually ends up with a further 800 yards to drive from where I actually live, but to be fair, someone made a real horlicks when they were programming the postcode in the first place.
The new maps are slightly more "blocky" - like someone removed the smoothness button on the graphics (roads appear as a set of joined straight lines), but it does offer a lot of pretty helpful extras (I do like the drop downs).
As someone else said, the house number would be a nice addition too - guess that will be another £149.99....

Just tried the drop down on mine just now, the options appear to be as follows from the top down:
3D view on/off
Traffic hazards on/off
Quick view of entire route
What looks like a highlighter at direction changes (it draws a dotted ring around turns you need to make)
A short cut to the map of the destination
I was using the "With Guidance" view.
Hope this helps.

I had this update done to my 987.2 Boxster which I bought from an OPC on Wednesday. Since picking up the car everything is working fine apart from having no sound from the stereo (Radio and CD) and i've plugged my iPod in to the car and it's made my iPod freeze on the 'ok to disconnect screen'. Sometimes very randomly whilst driving the sound will all of a sudden come on full blast without even touching the PCM which is not a great feature. The sound then works for the rest of the journey but when it is turned off and on it doesn't work again. Nightmare! It isn't due to a traffic announcement or anything like that either.

Guitarplayer64, I made the comment about the house number just after I got it updated. But after playing a bit it does indeed take the house number after 'selecting' the street it prompts for a number. I had just said OK at the road name and assumed that was as far as the update went.
