When my Panamera went in for its first service, I was given the option of a Porsche or a Jag XF. If I wanted a Porsche Id have to wait another couple of weeks for an appointment though. Jag was fine and had been wanting to try one out for a bit anyway!

I think West London has a policy something like that you can have a VW Golf if you book 2 months in advance and a Porsche, maybe, if you book now for a service in 2025.

Dundee BMW put you in a shuttle that roves about dropping off and picking up.
Quite interesting, we all turn up all profesh in our beemers, and then sheepishly file into a crappy minibus with steamed up windows.

Also, while on the beemer bus, I met a colleague last time, who told me how her nearly new 1 series timing belt catastrophically failed in the middle of europe. Ahh, the perks of prestige motoring.

I am considering having an opc service my 996T, if i was guaranteed a 911/cayman/boxster for the day I would be much more likely to do it.

Today my 997 is having some work done at Porsche Centre Bolton. They have lent me a 14 plate 981 Boxster S. No arguing or bargaining involved - when I made the booking I was asked if I needed a courtesy car and I said it would be useful. As said the Boxster was waiting for me. :-)

OPC Swindon have always provided me with something interesting when servicing my Cayenne. Once it was a Cayman S and another time it was a Mini Cooper S.

I had a diesel mini four door estate thing from Bristol. It was absolutely horrible. I'd assumed I might at least get something vaguely sporty.

OPC Kendal in 2013 gave me a newish JAP little 4x4. It hadn't a handbrake just a little lever. I'd never used one before and just can't see why it couldn't have a traditional handbrake. That was fun (not) doing a 3 point turn up on Fells in January.

OPC Swindon this year gave me a brand new BMW 3 or maybe 5 Touring, with 500 miles on the clock. That didn't have a handbrake either OR a place to insert the key. I was dumbstruck. The Service quy kindly explained how it all worked but couldn't give an answer when I asked him where to keep the gigantic key thing in the car whilst driving. Auto box with several driving modes, WTF? He didn't tell me about the stop/start rubbish either. I thought it had broken down at the first set of lights when it stopped.

You call this progress!!!!

I drive a LR Defender as my daily. Proper handbrake, proper key, proper gearbox and it doesn't stop eveytime I pull up at the lights. Sorted.

are people actually complaining about the courtesy (know what the word means?) car not being a porsche? wow.
Yes: it is part of the service expected. And the cost of that is reflected in the labour rates charged by the dealer and the purchase price of your car in the first place. And in the low prices the dealers offer on part exchanges. And meanwhile - if the dealer is smart - they loan you a car which you might be tempted to buy as an upgrade or in addition to your other Porsche. They offer free 24 hour test drives to customers, so why not combine marketing and servicing / warranty work?

Agree that in the case of short notice / emergency repairs I would be very happy with any loan car to keep me on the road. Usually the dealers offer excellent service in this regard.

+1

I think it's insulting not to provide a decent courtesy car when charging £630 for 30 mins work (done whenever the teenagers out back feel like pretending to do it).

I got offered a white Boxster but decided to get a lift back instead.
I'm not George Michael.

Quite right, you have FAR too much testosterone to even consider a white Boxster. One up to the Macho boys. banghead

I've had the pleasure of a Carrera 991 with 35 miles on the clock

A GTS4

And a 2.7 PDK Cayman

All for 2 days each, usually midweek

Always book well in advance and ask specifically for a Porsche car, they're throwing me a line......and it's working!

Not true. I often wear pink and only have two testicles.

I don't particularly dislike Boxsters, just white convertibles.

good marketing imo and a great way to get you in a new car if you like the car you have been in the last 24 hours.

Leicester always give you a Porsche. :-)

And to prove the point I spent yesterday test driving Aston Martin Vantages. I went there and back in my courtsey C-Class Estate. A very big opportunity missed for Porsche. At the very least, bringing in a 987.2 should really be the chance for them to get me in a 981.

Brilliant marketing opportunity and talk about missing a trick. I asked for a Cayman as I was thinking of buying one and those two days would have probably sold me.

Porsche...doh.
