Porsche Lemon USA (it's not just PCGB with awful service)
Discussion
I have had issues with my 991 in the past now it's now gone back to Porsche. I really do empathise with him, although I had problems with PCGB , they were not quite as bad his although it certainlly was a struggle for me too. Porsche clearly have some serious issues with the way they deal with customers with genuine problems in my veiw and I just cannot understand-WHY?
Unfortunately, this guy is his biggest enemy.
The states has a 'lemon law' for new cars sold by dealerships, in that it is relatively easy and unnervingly common for owners in the states to return their vehicles to dealers for full refunds / replacement vehicles and start over. You will see a number of vehicles that appear very cheap for sale by dealers and these will be lemon repaired vehicles and sold on - all perfectly legal but still protected under the lemon law.
What this chap has done is fallen in love with his car.... and is looking at the situation through rose tinted spectacles. It is a similar story with those on the GT3 thread - and understandably too. The car (GT3) is just too good to pass up on but with that attitude, Porsche can (and are) doing as they please.
I see that Andy Brew jumped ship into an Aston - that's the only way Porsche will recognise his complaint - but I am sure his order was snapped up by another on the waiting list.

I believe he lives in Connecticut. The lemon law there provides for arbitration. I suspect if it was a state that forced a straight buy back full refund option he wouldn't still be dancing around with all this.
The new Porsche organisation is fantastic isn't it. Rising prices for lowering standards where it matters.

Nick has been very patient and given Porsche USA ample opportunity to fix the multitude of problems. I agree 100% with him here. Time for Porsche to offer 100% refund on the actual invoice price of the car or provide an identical replacement. The car is a clearly a lemon. This is turning into a PR / brand disaster for Porsche. Many are saying the same thing in relation to the GT3's engine, but at least they are dealing with that, albeit not fast enough to satisfy customers.

For me I gave myself a cut off point of the last letter they sent, I wanted answers, I wanted to know when my car was estimated for delivery, not a guarantee just an estimate, and finally I wanted a stop gap car to cheer me up, if that had happened I would have been more than happy to hang in there. It didn't so I felt enough was enough for me personally, I also have severe doubts that the car will be reliable long term, and I just realised that it was just a car and the emotional link I had built up was not warrantied and it was time to move on.
And after watching that video I'm kind of glad I did!

It should be a mandatory view for all of Porsche GmbH, Porsche GB & Porsche NA Management Teams on Monday morning to show them they are losing sight of their most valued asset - ie, us, the paying customer.
Not only are they losing sight, they are actually losing the customers. I doubt that I am the only one who has decided never again, based not on my personal experience, as my car has been OK, but based on what I have seen and read about the general quality and customer service over recent years. The really funny thing is, as I was watching the utube vid with this guy wryly telling us about his long list of problems, I was thinking that is one well spec'd car and maybe I should be thinking of a new one. No matter that his car wouldn't work in rain, and had smoking wires.
Human nature is wonderful.

Has anyone seen Porsche's Facebook page tonight, bit of a PR nightmare for them, not undeserved though.I think someone goings to get their arse kicked for letting it go this far.
Just seen it, WOW every post is spammed with the video. PR disaster which could become a case study in what not to do if Porsche don't sort it out.Trouble is they're probably worried about the precedent it will set and getting sued in North America!
Just seen the Facebook page and noticed someone mention Elon Musk & Tesla.
It got me thinking - if I were in PR at one of Porsche's competitors (e.g. Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mercedes etc) I'd be wanting to make a PR coup by making a big song & dance about offering to swap his 911 for one of their cars (with a higher list price). Compared to UK tv ads costing what, £50k for 30 seconds primetime on ITV1/Ch4? It sound like very cheap marketing to me, and robs Porsche of any opportunity to turn it around.

I think you will find that some of those brands are already heavily targeting disgruntled 991 GT3 owners...It got me thinking - if I were in PR at one of Porsche's competitors (e.g. Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mercedes etc) I'd be wanting to make a PR coup by making a big song & dance about offering to swap his 911 for one of their cars (with a higher list price).
