What a decision to make! What is the general opinion between them?

I have around £35k and would appreciate any advice. Would want to add OPC warranty any idea on cost?

Cheers

Drive them both, you'll have your answer then.

As above. They are quite different cars to drive so you need to get behind the wheel of each before deciding. IIIRC, a 2 year warranty is around £2k but would be included in the price if purchased from an opc.

Cayman a great car, but until you've scratched that 911 itch...

Do you want a 911, do you need 2 or a 2+2 seater. They do drive differently as has been said, go and try both its the only way

Thanks guys, I drove a Cayman last weekend and was very impressed but was curious as to the difference to the 911!

I only need a 2 seater, just me and the wife!

drive both and then decide! but £35k buys a low mileage 2011 caymanS but only a high mileage 2008/9 911c2.so if you really want a 911 go for it but i would go for the newer cayman

i'd go with the cayman, 35k won't get you a gen2 DFI engined 911 which is what you'd want.

There is no 'general opinion' on this. Cayman makes sense and is a great neutral car to drive. I've enjoyed some of the llate ones (981).

I'd still buy a 911, but it's pointless to try to explain.

It will, just. A 3.6 should just be within reach!

Own a 997.2 C2S, have driven the 3.4 981 quite a bit via loan cars over multiple days.

The 981 is a superb car. Interior is genuinely lovely, everything falls to hand and the quality is ace. The car handles beautifully, and has enough power to be either fun or a handful depending on mood. Styling works and is modern yet elegant. I'd buy one tomorrow.

And yet, I'd still rather have my 6 year old 911. There's just something very special about it, a uniqueness the Cayman cannot match, and steering to die for. Probably biased, but right now I wouldn't swap and I've definitely considered it.
