planning any gearbox/gearing mods?
Hi ade, gearbox will be done in 2016. Guards CS ratios and the porsche steel syncros and RS LSD. Will also finish it off with the Hydraulic brakes then as well and RS /turbo driveshafts. Need to get it back to drive it for a year before all that ! Having massive withdrawal symptoms.planning any gearbox/gearing mods?

Fabulous build. What do you think you'll be able to get the wet weight down to?
Well it should be pretty much the same as a std RSCS because it will match very closely including the ali bonnet, lightweight glass, buckets, no airbags, manual windows/locks/mirrors, water bottle, rear lightweight glass, cut down loom, wooden floorboards etc. Fabulous build. What do you think you'll be able to get the wet weight down to?
Only thing is my car has underseal and a little more paint i suspect but then no cat so maybe they cancel out.
Problem is i don't know what the CS quoted weight is. M002 is 1270 I believe.
Steve, i think yours was 1160-ish was it not with a little fuel ? Mine might not be as light as that (no plexiglass) but it would be nice if it dips under 1200.
1200kg/~310bhp, good torque, fab brakes, welded cage ... maybe it will be as quick point to point as my standard GT3.

Yep, maybe not and it really doesnt matter in any case. Its a car that for me that never ever feels like it needs to be any faster (unlike the mk1 which imo feels like it could do with a bit more horse/revs).
RE: weight. Steves was 1160 odd i think and his is very similar (full welded cage) albeit with no underseal, plexiglass and different seats.
Again though, really doesnt matter, as far as my personal tastes are concerned the car was wonderful to drive before it went in and it will just be several degrees more wonderful when it comes out. Its only for ttting through europe and the odd social trackday, not racing etc.

Hi Jackal, I was thinking about doing something similar with my GT3 (medium term storage that is) whilst I turn my attention to another project. I too would be very interested in sharing your research on the options available...
Meanwhile, keep the thread and pictures coming!
Hi david, the place that seems to be the state of the art in a fairly crowded market is Universal Classic. Meanwhile, keep the thread and pictures coming!

Nice thread Jackal.
Can I ask any tips for the best way of storing the GT3? May get to do this myself one day
Im not an expert but the key points seem to be extra inflating the tyres, dehumidifier such as carcoon, periodic starts to warm through and you can even get tyre 'shoes' to prevent flat spotting. Can I ask any tips for the best way of storing the GT3? May get to do this myself one day

Jackal,
Reading your wish list on the first post it sounds like it should be a blast. Is this still your intended route or have you changed plan/had other ideas as you've progressed?
Its great you are going to get out in this thing on road trips as well as track days once its done.
Hi F, yes the plan is the same. Essentially a near as perfect RSCS recreation as possible. I have though decided to leave the final round of works till 2016:Reading your wish list on the first post it sounds like it should be a blast. Hydraulic brakes
Bonnet interior bracketry, battery cut off, tow bar panel
CS gearbox & RS driveshafts
Front tower seam welds/strengthening brackets
When complete it will only differ to the real thing in a few areas: underseal, vin plate, solid rear bushes, PSS10.
I was strongly considering buidling the engine as an RSR but it wouldnt be that suitable for my intended use and knowing me id probably have to change everything else on the car to match to RSR spec. I basically like my originality with Porsches.

This I'll look into this further.
It's a consideration for me some point next year. All the best with the build.
Just a thought I've just had brake upgrade added to my 964. 928S4 discs and pads fooking awesome!
Yes ace, same as 968M030 if im not mistaken. I did the same jump so appreciate how big it is, enjoy. It's a consideration for me some point next year. All the best with the build.
