. The problem is that there is a variation in standard of driving on track days, along with if one gets bent.....its not as though one can go out and buy another.
actually I've never had a problem with driving standards on track days, and after I stopped racing in 2005 I've done quite a few. I think it depends on the organisers, I tend to do RMA or Goldtrack days. most people seem to dive out of the way of GT3s being driven in a spirited fashion anyway. On the faster circuits like Spa and Silverstone there is more than enough space for everyone. At the 'ring on TF days I admit to having had a few scares when my enthusiasm has got the better of me and I should have probably tempered the pace a bit.

thanks for your reasoned reply though and I'm glad to hear that you get your 4.0 out on the circuit. Frankly I'd rather be wrong than right when it comes to my observation about the type of chap who buys the latest GT3 products.
Taking the '73 to CLM Oliver...to be used as intended wink

Rob, that is what I would expect of you ! Lets be honest, you aren't a collector, you're an enthusiast. you bought the ex DG '73 RS for it's provenance and because you love the way it drives, and that you'd use it in a similar manner to it's last owner (god rest his soul - I wonder what he'd make of the current scenario). sadly a lot of other '73 2.7 RS owners have sold over the last 12 months for various reasons, myself included, leaving the profile of recent owners rather different to the past.

Oddly I don't miss mine much. Saw the car parked up in Mayfair the other day in a residents bay. I didn't burst into tears, I must have moved on...

I'm off to LM next Friday in the 930 with my bro in his ex WRC Renault-Alpine A110 (keeping it real by slumming it in a campsite) - sadly missing CLM as I have to be in Beijing the week before. Enjoy !

Cheers Oliver. Still the best car I've driven by a long chalk, especially on the mountain roads. Light, nimble and feedback phenomenal. Values have indeed rocketed, but still need to be used as you say. That Alpine, one of my favourites, blue I presume ?.
Incidentally, re the 991GT3, it really is a phenomenal car. I thrashed one around Silverstone for nearly 3 hours, and was utterly bowled over. Never thought I'd say it, but didn't miss stick shift one iota. Just a different experience, but what an experience. Delivering in July apparently, if the Germans can be bothered !. Have a good trip.

Some people who say the 996rs is the worst car they've driven(an absolute dog) probably have as much natural driving ability as a monkey with no arms!!! Great car just needs a good driver!!

I would say that the 64RS is the drivers fav porshce, this is reflected in the prices, with the 6RS no one wants it...its all very well saying when set up,"ie 20k etc) they are this and they are that.....but out of the box its an absolute dog....worst car I have ever had handling wise, right up there with 348F

Give it up mate you're talking to yourself. Check the classifieds there are non for sale which is odd for a car that 'no one' wants.
It didn't suit you that's life but people like Steve Rance love it. Do you think you know more about driving cars than him?
Time to move this subject on APOLO

If no one wants the 6RS why have they come up at least 30K over the space of 2 years and why is there only one for sale at the moment and that's at SCOM so Christ knows what the price is.

If anyone hates their 6RS as its a dog of a car let me know please and I'll do a deal with you. Garage queens need not apply.

fantastic - oddly you don't see too many 4.0 RS's on UK race circuits, probably because they are mainly in the hands of 'collectors' who know the price of everything but the value of nothing. The new 991 GT3 does little for me either, I don't want electronic systems deciding how fast I can take Radillon. I've put a small deposit down for the rumoured Cayman GT4 being developed by Porsche Motorsport to allow for race homologation. Hopefully said deposit will get me into a car to use in a spirited fashion, rather than the usual GT type buyer who'll mooch up and down the Kings road with the sports exhaust open and then tuck away in a heated garage for the benefit of the next owner. the current Porsche ownership profile has become more akin to Ferrari's. it's pathetic in my humble opinion.
clap Totally agree!

On their website. I am in the market for one but I won't be paying his prices. To be fair to SCOM they do sell good quality cars and the customer service is as good as any.

Edit.

Actually just checked their website and its not there now. Odd. Someone must have paid top dollar for a dog of a car. Hopefully the new owner will realise and stick it back on the market tomorrow.

Reminds me of a punter at the Dubai Autodrome who claimed to be the Chevy Lumina V8 Champ. After listening to a lot of willy waving, the chief instructor turned to one of his colleagues and said, "Allow me to introduce to you the Chevy Lumina champion, he won at Bahrain last weekend, you must know each other very well...."

It's nice to hand someone a warm cup of STFU tea every now and then.
