So glad that the Parr car ended up with an owner who could truly appreciate it and use it in the manner that it was intended. I've had the pleasure of driving driving that car in lots of different circuits working on the set up and damping control. In the end Tim felt that it was too sharp and we had to soften it a bit. Got some driving notes on it somewhere if you want them. Kelvin Burt did some work on it at Brands Indy and I remember Richard Westbrook drove it (Snett I think) just after he got the works drive at Porsche. Hopefully those crappy Toyo's have been binned and it's back on cups?
Amazing car and never had a bent panel. Great provenance.
Enjoy it old Boy!!
Dunlop slicks now chief Amazing car and never had a bent panel. Great provenance.

At the risk of poking the lion with a big stick there is a 997 GT3 4.0ltr up for sale at OPC Silverstone for a lot less than £300k Yours for £179k (IIRC)
They also have a 991 GT3 for £134850
Don't shoot the messenger, I have no experience of GT3's
Where are you seeing that. Silverstone do not have a 4.0 for sale....They also have a 991 GT3 for £134850

fantastic - oddly you don't see too many 4.0 RS's on UK race circuits, probably because they are mainly in the hands of 'collectors' who know the price of everything but the value of nothing. The new 991 GT3 does little for me either, I don't want electronic systems deciding how fast I can take Radillon. I've put a small deposit down for the rumoured Cayman GT4 being developed by Porsche Motorsport to allow for race homologation. Hopefully said deposit will get me into a car to use in a spirited fashion, rather than the usual GT type buyer who'll mooch up and down the Kings road with the sports exhaust open and then tuck away in a heated garage for the benefit of the next owner. the current Porsche ownership profile has become more akin to Ferrari's. it's pathetic in my humble opinion. seawise said:

Spot on seawise.I was actually signed up for the PCGB track day at Goodwood yesterday with my 4.0 and was very much looking forward to the day. However, persistent heavy rain made me stay at home. Goodwood has no run off areas and with my front set of tyres being almost slicks (waiting for that last track day outing before i change them) I decided to abandon. British Summer at its best.

Spot on seawise. As for the 991 GT3, the track is not it intended place, the is a GT3 road car for the track, the RS a track focused car for the road.....
Pah... get 'em on track. In 15 years of track days I've only seen car to car contact once.
In years to come, cars driven as intended will be appreciated for what they are. Patina and history will be valued if that matters anyway.
Such a waste of R&D and money and fun. It's like not using your man-parts for what nature intended.

. The problem is that there is a variation in standard of driving on track days, along with if one gets bent.....its not as though one can go out and buy another.
actually I've never had a problem with driving standards on track days, and after I stopped racing in 2005 I've done quite a few. I think it depends on the organisers, I tend to do RMA or Goldtrack days. most people seem to dive out of the way of GT3s being driven in a spirited fashion anyway. On the faster circuits like Spa and Silverstone there is more than enough space for everyone. At the 'ring on TF days I admit to having had a few scares when my enthusiasm has got the better of me and I should have probably tempered the pace a bit.thanks for your reasoned reply though and I'm glad to hear that you get your 4.0 out on the circuit. Frankly I'd rather be wrong than right when it comes to my observation about the type of chap who buys the latest GT3 products.

when I say driving standards, I also mean taking into account the weather, and track conditions..I agree not seen many contacts.....thanks for your reasoned reply though and I'm glad to hear that you get your 4.0 out on the circuit. My decision to abandon yesterday was not based on driving standards of others as PCGB trackdays are well marchalled and low on incidents. It was simply down to the fact that I don't enjoy driving on a wet track in the pouring rain - so why bother? Also, Goodwood is a fast track and if you get off the track there is very little that prevents you from hitting anything hard.
