Just thought I might show those who were thinking about the Hayward and Scott exhaust modification, exactly what it looks like:-

Before:

After:

Its a simple modification that has negligible effect on performance - but a massive effect on smile value smilesmilesmiletongue out and does not boom on motorways.

If anyone wants to know how the old exhaust boxes were cleaned. They are actually made of stainless steel but salt and mud corrode the surface. Wonder Wheel cleaner and wire wool and about 10 minutes effort produces the finish above on 12 year old GT3 boxes. I suspect they did not get much winter exposure before I got my hands on them!

Bypass all you want using the standard boxes, it's never going to sound as good as the M & M/Manthey system with a Cup filter at 8k rpm hehe

Thanks for posting the video on YT Terry !
You're welcome mate. I have some new footage from DN10 to add soon too smile

Car sounds better every time smile

By way of update, with very helpful tips from slippydiff my Mk1 GT3 now has an M&M exhaust and a remap.

The exhaust, which i understand is (or is v similar) to that which Manthey use in their conversions, was bought direct from M&M in Germany.

Having had it installed and a remap later, the car is more addictive than ever to drive. 397 bhp on the dyno, the induction sound and the rate at which the revs climb over 3000rpm as well as the exhaust note is amazing.

Total cost all in was a shade over £4k. Best ££s i've ever spent on any mod.

Roll on the Euro road trip in a couple of weeks over the Alps and Pyrenees.

Hi Ajit. Glad to hear you got it sorted and you're happy with the results, as you've found a decent exhaust and remap take the Mk 1 GT3 engine to another level altogether.
I look forward to some videos. smile

Will do and thanks again for all your help.

The change really does let the car off its leash - and the woolfy raspy exhaust note at low to medium revs is brilliant, the howl at 5.5k to red line even more so, and its' close to stock note at cruising speeds so very little compromise too.
