The Porsche Bubble Explodes - 'PEAK BEARD'
Discussion
Hi All
I have been banging on about increases in RS, GT and air cooled cars for the past couple of years and was very much of the view that its just the market in action, with International forces just increasing the pressure.
But, I am starting to think that its gone too far and some traders have been manipulating this rise in prices to their advantage (maybe even working as a cartel). The horror eh?
This Summer we have seen some crazy rises and I am wondering whether it is sustainable and whether we have hit 'peak beard' (Copyright MTR). A 993RS for 250k? Gen 2 GT3 non RS at 100k? 964RS at lord knows what now!
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that there is an almighty crash due, but we may be at the summit, with some 'corrections' to come and then a levelling out over the next few years.
Therefore, I am offically calling a bubble. Views?

Peak Beard got called back in April in The Guardian, though in a different context; those crazy hipsters...
But yeah, could be. JZM have three 993 Turbos and they've (shock, horror) *dropped* the prices on two of them recently. They dared to *lower* the price! Accepted air-cooled sales wisdom (Hexagon Motors) has it that when thou cannot selleth a car thou shalt substantially raiseth thy price. Clearly JZM will have no such thing.
If so, and 993RSs are £10,000 by the end of the year, count me in.

No they have risen, but the downside is a chap who wanted one a few years ago he cannot afford one now.
As values have shot up on A/C Porsche's as we all know. Even if you sell at peak time it may not be that easy. Dealers are going around buying stock, from private sellers then there mark up and values go up.
I know of quite a few 911's been for sale for ages good car's as well.
Even Boxster's are low now, get one now for under £4k great value a lot of car for not so much money.

I just have no clue on this, and came to the conclusion that I would buy and drive, damn the torpedoes.
I sold my 3.8 RS of amazing money, kept my 3.6 RS permanently and will move on to the 991RS. Personally if I lived in Europe I would go for a 996 RS, as they are not that common. The 993RS is already well up there in value I think.

Mtr,dealers are only extracting what punters are prepared to pay in the market place, buyers are driving the market.
The top end proper rare stuff is going off at a different level again, and not much sign of slowing so far.A lot of these cars are selling under the radar of adverts and changing hands with the people in the know.

It's probably a bubble but that doesn't mean it won't continue on for a while and as far as older Ferraris, a bubble's been called for quite a while and that certainly shows no sign of stopping.
Have to admit, wouldn't mind prices returning to something more sensible as it's started to put a not insignificant crimp on the usage of my car.

Anyone worrying about spiralling values would be well-advised to buy an early Boxster for under £5k.
Crazy value, both in context of where other 6-cylinder Pork is headed as well as in the grand scheme of things. Some are down as low as £4k - the price of a set of PCCBs.
