Holy st, it seems almost unfair that you have done so much impeccable CAD and fabrication work to be confronted by a body that has had to be reduced to patchwork! Did you know from the outset that the body moulding would require such extreme fettling?

Either way chapeau, you don't seem phased by whatever the project throws at you and just get on with it. As others have said, I'd probably have torn my hair out and had a big fibreglass bonfire by now!

It is a copy of the race version of the 962 Schuppan Porsche.

More F/G work, now both doors open and close. The first new catch is in and the alignment of the rear clip to bulkhead is sorted after another little adjustment. Thank god I have a diamond wheel for my angle grinder to cut this stuff... otherwise I would have gone though a box of normal wheels by now...

I put a vertical laser on the rear bulkhead and it was clear it was at fault, so a little cut a push back and 3 layers of glass and where all good now.

and a couple of shots from the GoPro...

Just the front chassis crash structure to mount then the front clip will be the last panel to be self supporting .... Its getting closer every day now.. smile

I notice that on the RCR 962 page Fran says that the kit isn't like the other RCR offerings and the body needs work.

I want to say that his source is the same as yours but I am surprised that they haven't 'rectified' the issues before selling them on.

Perhaps they have an agreement with Mr S not to!?

It was just some idle pondering. If he made his own (good) molds then I guess it would put 'other' suppliers out of business.

Loving the progress - This really will look spectacular!

Once all the catches and fixtures are in and the gaps are close ( still need to get them closer with F/G first ) then yes I've used the razor blade tip before, but he has a few other good ideas as well I must admit...

they have another one on fibre glass as well

I have watched a few of his other you tube clips, not bad.
I wonder how close he is to you? Maybe you should hit them up. I'm sure they would appreciate the uniqueness of the car and be thrilled to use it in a promo video. Gets you some coverage as well.

Door catches on the original cars are not very sturdy nor do they look very nice. So we've mounted the catch to the chassis and the striker to the door opposite to an original. This means no mechanical key lock to open the door, just a remote key fob... Bringing the car up to date with the rest of the drive train....

Due to the only way to install and remove the catch is though the top, I'll make a Beauty cover for that in ally later..

As for shutlines I loved Clarksons comment when he reviewed the F40...'if I were a little thinner I could get in without opening the door'
