First part of the gearbox extension now here fits fine. Will have to make some Billet blanks to cover the diff cover and drive shaft holes, and give it a good media blasting.

Then there's the 3" thick plate that will go behind and adapt it to the Elite Box.

Needed to space the gearbox back 15" to put the engine in the right place, and having a new gearbox built means I can spec the input shaft long enough to still fit up to the Engine. Plus full Sequential biggrin

My Day job is 12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off, so yes I only get say 3 days a week at it at best. The engine I still have to ask about yet, there maybe some work internally needed for the oil pickup but that's probably all the mods it needs.

Anyway adjustable Corsa 'C' EPAS column arrived today, as did the AC / Heater unit

AC unit fits fine but has to be pushed right over to the passenger side to keep it away from the drivers
feet.

Oh yes and there's a original Heated windscreen, dont ask how much that was....ouch

Yes keeping Stock GT3 motor for now with a different exhaust (Side exit of course) and maybe a tune shouldn't be any more than 350 lbs of torque. Even we we play with the motor later keeping it under the say 450 lbs should be easy. Plus we live in Calgary so most of its use will be a 3300ft above see level that's a good 5-10% loss of power up here in the mountains.

Yes Spoke to DC for my project so going to order 2 Ecu's at the same time, glad to here another guy using them with good feedback... Did you keep the stock torque sensor on the column or fit DC's sensor ??

On the gearbox front I spoke to Elite today and I can have 5th and 6th cut helical which should make it a little more normal at cruising speeds, got the idea after remembering the Old Jack Knight Mini Boxes that only had top gear helical and straight on the others, thought it would be cool...

Well not so much done in the real world today but the Cad model has moved on loads...
The uprights I have designed and used on my car have the rack in different position, so back to the drawing board for them. Tried to keep them simple so radial mount calipers bolt direct no brackets, and a simple sandwich plate design for the upper ball joint and steering joint. Similar to this original but modified 962

Here's my version...

Clive, this is a really great thread... Do you intend to model each section/piece up in CAD as you design it? So in the end will you end up with a complete model of the finished car? nerd
Body no, but where I need to get things right the first time before I make them (Suspension Geometry, Effective Swing arm lengths, Camber gain, bump steer, Roll Centers) etc. yes Cad is the way to go. Also If I need to machine anything from Billet It needs to be in Cad first so I can convert it to GCode for my cnc mill.

Don't need to do both sides like I have here nor do I need to do all the components, just when I have something that needs allot of adjusting to get right maybe..
Here's my car still playing with the turbo positioning etc and a few other things...

Cad is invaluable as far as doing all the accessory drive stuff on my LSX...

Only 850 Kgs with 12" slicks on the front and 15" on the back and 860 Kgs downforce at 200 ish mph ... " get it round the corner ". I think Chris Harris said that, but it seemed a odd comment to me ..... Still holds the Ring record with Mr belloff, oh yes because the ring had no corners ???
Oh well compared to a Audi R15 maybe, but I'm guessing it would wipe the floor with a R8 GT3 ... Compared to an original 962 of course

We had a 962 on the road, your cage looks better than the porsche one, sadly my hero bellof died at spa in one,the front wheel was inside the car, consider as much safety as possible.
Will you be fitting a honey combe ali carbon floor for extra rigidty and crash protection etc.
Good project, careful on the jaguar parts;)
Good luck with it.
I know what your saying bud, these kind of cars are never going to be as safe in a crush kind of accident as an Encap5, but with the cage and the fact that there's allot of crush structure around you (Car is 78" wide)
lets just say its probably no different to allot of other similar base cars...

Due to its very low ground clearance I have made the decision to not just fit 2mm steel under the seats as In my normal cars. I'm doing it from the front bulkhead to the rear... Yes its going add some weight but it will be only 3" off the ground....

I used the stock torque sensor, which means you have to accept a bit of play in the column as the top is not directly connected to the bottom. If you use the DC sensor you can weld up the column and remove the play...
This is going to be very much a road car so I might keep the std sensor. My car I'm leaning towards making a new shaft for it and using a DC sensor, I suppose really just because I can. Even though DC did say the difference is very small and hardly even worth it even for a race car.

Ok first step on the new pedal rails is to lower them into the floor. Don't want to raise the pedals any more than they are now so down is the only option.

Yes that's just a Temporary Bracing for welding...
Here's how it will sit on the car...

Next step weld in countersunk bolts into the new lower floor to hold the rails in...

Have also tack welded in the hex heads bolts that will attach the top plate to the rails and drilled
the holes to mount the motor unit.

Next make the Top Plate...

Yes this also has tack welded in Countersunk bolts from the bottom, as the plate is only 3mm above the old floor so had no room for anything else.

Attach the pedals onto the studs and the plate onto the rails...

Last thing screw in the lead screws...

Tomorrow I'll weld the plate in then the last thing is to fab some mounts into the front bulkhead to connect to the back of the Lead screws....
