Clive, how do you deal with the MDF dust in the metal working machine. does it cause any issues?
Don't think I answered the question sorry. I mount a vacuum hose where the coolant nozzles are normally, just sucks majority of the dust away.

Thanks Clive.

looking good as always. reason for asking re the CNC, is i have a mate who is looking at building a flat 12, and the cost of the billet for the block was going to be ~$10k Australian. So the idea of running a practice pass on the mill in MDF was appealing.

you have to love crazy projects.

bolt 2 flat 6's or 3 flat 4's together? flat 12 from scratch seems like a monumental task...
if he does it try and convince him to post it here!!

All very impressive stuff Clive.

Am I right that you are building this for someone else and they are footing the bills for stuff.
Are you also billing for all this cad/cnc work too as well as building it or are you doing it for free "because you always wanted to".
I can understand both approaches but wondering which route you are taking.

No real need to as already in the T6 condition. If I was to really make them race car light weight then maybe, but there so over spec'd for the road, that you just doesn't need it TBH

Next 3 sides of the gearbox extension made from one piece of plate..

Interesting thanks. How do you know structural components are over spec? Did you do the maths/CAD/FEA or you just know from experience and it's obvious from looking at them they are 10 times stronger than needed?
