Funny thing is if I could get a metro like that here I'd buy one.... as a nice idea has sprung into my head about a 6R4. Mainly the running gear to make it true mid-engined 4wd V6... Would be great next build me thinks....
thats a lovely example.saw a strange one for sale, not so nice, it uses different body panels...

Whip the front splitter and rear wing off that yellow one and I think that would make a great weekend toy.
Keep it RWD and with the appropriate engine to make it road friendly.
Something like an Elise rear suspension/ engine/ cradle and geometry at the back?
Should probably keep to the 6R4 thread in the kit cars section!
Great progress on the 962, Clive! Keep up the good work!

This is probably the deepest thing I could machine on my mill. I only have a 6" z axis as its an old mill. Also the depth forces me to have to be a bit more ingenious with the tooling as the longer the bit the more of a pain tool vibration becomes.... Doing the MDF is easy but the speeds and feeds for the 6061 has to be spot on otherwise I will get a bad finish or worse snap a tool...
At this stage its still easy to make changes, so the Hyd Release bearing mount is on its third update.

After a quick google image search on the rear lights, the 962 race cars had what look like aftermarket trailer/caravan lights that you could get from a kit car supplier.
Road car 962s like Dauer have what look like lights from a 944
Heavily styled 962 road cars like Schuppan have old 911 lights
And there's the car above with the upside down Metro lights.
So basically, do what you like!

Well as it happens we spent a few more bob than most. Like you found most of the originals fitted what ever they found as the looks where immaterial just the function for a race car. The slope of the rear section of the "C" rear bodywork we have, just happens to be perfect for these lights...

Well as much as that WOOD be nice ..... have started the Billet now...
Had to remove one of the main Scavenge return pipes, as the new starter position ment it was in the way. Then it just slid in lovely ... Small increase to the depth of the starter by 2mm (was happier with a little more overlap on the gears) adjusted the Gcode on the mill and away we go.... More Billet Porn Pic's arriving soon.
