Drivers side rad now rubber mounted, the bottom pair is on a removable piece top is fixed...

I've never been a big fan of Checker plate, but for a none slip step it makes sense. Its thin gauge plate
reinforced under neither with angle and box so is still light..

I know its not my car and that its ultimately your choice and that things often look different in person......so please take this as just a comment.

if it was me, I would ditch the checker plate and just run a flat sheet of alloy, or sandwich panel with some grip tape on top, cut it into a nice square with some rounded corners. What do they use on boats? isn't there some stuff you can paint over so that it gives a nice seamless finish and look? checker-plate makes it look like its part of a trailer.

other than that, loving the side riggers. I think having the top mounts solid with a removable lower is defiantly the way to go, and should allow for a nice consistent solid mount for keeping the body aligned.

cant wait for the next instalment.

I'm not really sure where this checkerplate is? Isn't the 'outer/body' sill for want of a better description flush with the 'inner/chassis' sill?

Have you lowered the outer bit of the sill to make it more practical? Also not a fan of the checkerplate at all, doesn't look the same quality as the rest of the build. Might be a perfectly good solution to the problem but aethetically is wrong imho. Flat piece of carbon prepreg with some 3m protective film?

+ 1 Clive.

This is not up to your usual excellent standard.

Another observation.
How does the width of the two cars compare? The Porsche looks quite a bit bigger. Just curious.

could be different for different generations of the car, the Jagermister one i saw at Philip Island Historics in February had a cover that sat slightly lower than the top of the chassis sides. there was practically nothing in the front of the side pods. the back has to line up with the duct in the door so that the floor of the door can then channel the air into the inter-coolers.

I do get that checker plate does cheapen the car slightly, and have been pondering over just ditching it TBH... The original Ally Tub was 3-4" wide at the sides and so pushed the driver closer to the middle of the car. We are 1.5" wide so that looks thinner. The cill section is covered on the originals and there just covered it over with a removable plate. But there's 19" to get over just to get in, and to aid this we deiced to build a step just to make getting in easier. I will box it in so all the surrounding areas will be covered up but the step and the Aero profile Handle in-front of the radiator, plus and grab handle inside the roof should make it better for us Old Foke to get in without breaking an Ankle...

Even the Doctor has fun getting in an out of a 962 ...nerd
Note the message by Porsche to remind people not to step on the cill....

I still feel like a prick for posting what i posted, I do love the project Clive.

the photos of the doctor are great. the opening is akin to a mail box that you have to post yourself into!
sill width looks a bit wider than the GT40/Ultima/Elise and they all require use of particular positions in the karma-sutra to get in and out of so 19" of sill width should be a heap of fun!

the step concept sounds like a great idea.

Body brackets are coming along but it seems I really need the rear Clip support frame. Its a painfully slow process making minor adjustments all the time, just to get it close and give me some idea of the corrections that need to be done to make it better. Seems like a Mammoth task to start with, but with no points of reference it was always going to be.

Here's the Frame that will support the rear clip, it bolts direct to the gearbox and the wing mounts that will come later..

Tea break over back to the Lovely arm scratching Fiber Glass...

PS Thanks for the TXL300 File Mark looks way better now..drink

No Straight to Billet on simple stuff like this. I can machine in one Op roughly 400mm x 760mm, but stuff like the 2" thick Gearbox adapter which is wider, I just move it on the table re-reference a Zero Point ( In that case the Crank Center ) and machine the other half...
