looks good. While building this car have you had any ideas that you would like to incorporate in to your car?

Has made me think I should have done a Full Billet frame around my gearbox instead of a Steel frame. Won't be altering my car now but the next version !! Also the next car will be going Lambo Gearbox instead of Porsche, seeing as you can buy new ones at a good price..

Does that mean 4wd for the next car?

Looking at the two cars side by side it surprises me how much lower the rear of the Porsche looks.

The 962 being 8" wider makes it look lower to.
4WD probably not, but never say never....

Been told they can be had for about $15,000, but I haven't confirmed that price yet. I spent $10K with CMS on my 996TT box and it cost $4k to buy... Also due to the Lambo / R8 design they have a transfer gear that can be altered easily, and so Final drive ratios can be altered with out changing the CWP... There's already a company doing them, so the TT Gallardo can break 250mph.. I've only just stumbled across it last week.... Thought they where like the Lambos before them, mounted in-front of the motor not behind it, until i saw a cutway of the box then that got me digging for more info... A bit big on the right hand side so packaging not as tight as I have now but anything possible If your determined enough.

Are you talking about a manual Lambo box or an automated one?

If it is automated has someone sorted the electronics?

The Manual and the Auto/Flappy box are almost identical. They have a different bolt on selector unit it seems. The manual version seems the simplest way and has been done by a few people, the Semi Auto uses a very crude kind of hyd shifter system that disengages the clutch and changes for you. So it seems they adapted a normal single clutch manual box and added fancy Hyd pump and selector system to get the Flappy paddle box. Not the most refined fastest changing Auto box, and they tend to eat clutches apparently. But I'm sure most people would not mind if they can be adapted to your Project car.

I will be doing more research but I cant see me using one for a while yet.... Unless I get a Catastrophic failure of my 996TT box

same people make the Modena 360 box as well.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ferrari-360-Modena-F1-T...

the hole in the side is where the F1 or manual selector forks go. its completly the opposite way to how BMW do it with the SMG, which has an actuator for each shift rod/fork

these boxes (lambo/360) have s actuator for going across the gate, and one actuator for going in and out of gear.
i did find someone that had converted his F1 360 back to a manual so i presume it is possible to go the other way.

in that second PDF you can see the "E-gear" auto change bit shaded grey on top of the Audi box. looks very very similar to the 360 box

The company RCR out of Michigan who make the SLC kit car offer that gearbox new with a warranty for 10k. But I would assume you only get that price if you purchase the kit car. Not sure how much or if he would sell them individually.

So before I could finish mounting the Windshield surround, I needed to weld in the dash to cage bar I removed to get the original GT3 Cluster in. So It seemed logical to mount the Cluster and make the final Mounts for the Power steering unit.

To Make sure I had enough clearance for the electrical connector at the back of the Cluster I had to dig out the loom. Good time to start planning where all the boxes are going to go...

Re Your comments at the 11 minuet mark, re the double skin door and its alignment.

Here are some photos of my door mould for the 40.

you should be able to make out the steel tube on the back face of the mould
Would it not be easier to pull it into shape using whatever means necessary, make a splash mould of the outer door, reinforce outer door as per the attached and then re-lay doors.
Mine were done by the fiber glassers by leaving the outer in the mould until they had glued the inner to the back side using polyurethane adhesive. Then once that had dried the whole assembly was removed from the outer mould.

Separating a double skinned door sounds like an unnecessary challenge.

I am hoping I don’t have the same issues with the 40.

Yes my own car has a steel tube frame supporting the outer skin mold holding it in position. 962 doors are made from 4 pieces due to the massive vent though the door.... once the door is perfect then I might take a mold. But for now I'll just fix what we have..

Apologies if I have missed this in the thread, Clive, but what are you doing in the way of braking for this project? Will you be using the Porsche GT3 steel items or going for a full ceramic set up job?

Btw - hats off to you. Project is looking mega.
