And the body work begins, cut out a large section of the cill, it seems to be of a non consistent thickness which is why it isn't flat. This will make even a good mold look crap as it will shrink at different rates over time. Some parts of it are 10mm thick others are 2mm, and flat surfaces will make this worse as it has no shape to hold and reinforce it ...
Dare i swear and say "chopper gun", they can be alright if the users know what they are doing. After-all that is how CSM is made to start with, only using a binder and not resin.
in that last photo Clive, is that a gel coat you have put down?
are you going to put a backing mat down, like a core mat or will it be some other plan to keep it flat and stiff?

Yep it's a sanding gelcoat , have put 3 layer of 300 gram CSM then core Matt and one more CSM to hold it on... Makes for a very flat and rigid surface . in that last photo Clive, is that a gel coat you have put down?

Right side needed more attention, was hoping that after grinding the part that was to thick it might spring back but no such luck. So I chopped the top piece off cut out the side and cut across the twisted part by the side repeater recess so I could straighten it then laminate it back to where it should be . Once inside done will have to grind outer surface down and laminate that to stop any future craps apearing where it was cut though ...

Shame the bodywork was not an ideal starting point - but you seem very positive and obviously have great amount of patience. Please keep the videos coming!shirt said:
that is at Phillip Island, i was there in early feb 2015 to see it, refer to earlier in the thread. I think Dutton's might know a thing or two about that car. There is some other bodywork for it apparently. one set is the high down force and the other is the low drag Le-mans spec. Don't ask me which is whichGassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
