After Spending the last few weeks getting my house in order for the winter ( mainly reorganizing my front garage and making room for more storage with a nice new 4 Post lift ) it's time to get back to the fun stuff...
That done time to finish the steering components.
Steering Rack mounts just needed a tweek in CAD then
Just need to pop to me mates shop and borrow his Band Saw to chop them in half then there done..
Next design the lower bracket for the outer Tie Rod End to put it in Double shear.... Done..

Good few days progress on the car. While the CNC was knocking out some nice header plates to transition from the 997 ports to the round tube we will be using, I was progressing the body and the steering... few pics of course..
Here's the little brackets to put the Steering outer bolt in double shear
Next thing to make are the steering links from the rack to the outer joints...

To save me going back through this thread to see if you have already answered this question, can I ask if all the ally parts are going to be anodised? I expect you will powder coat the steel?

It has been mentioned before. I think Clive asked for an opinion and the general consensus was gold.To save me going back through this thread to see if you have already answered this question, can I ask if all the ally parts are going to be anodised? I expect you will powder coat the steel?

Do your finishers offer 'hot zinc spray'?
The process looks like a normal spray gun in use but it is in fact a gas flame with a zinc wire feed into the gun. The finish is almost as good as hot dip galvanising.
Our finisher then bakes the chassis to allow the zinc to out-gas before applying a zinc primer then the powder coat.

Well glad to report bump steer just and the Cad model....Zero
So have drilled and mounted the rack. Need to weld in anti crush tubes into the chassis rail, but for now its good.
Have started the Column link, which has a double lower joint to help lift it above the pedals, so needs another support joint..
Also important especially with Rod End stile joints is to check they don't bind. Can confirm full droop to full bump on both hard lock left and right all clear and no binding... Only needed a little clearancing where the Tabs for the lower Shock mount on the WB just interfered with the Billet upright. Now all good
