Nice idea but looking at the inside of the mould there are no features for window or door openings so it is nothing more than a very very expensive silhouette.

The other risk is that it was just a trial mould so you have no idea if that shape ever became a working car.

Clive, I like a number of people have stumbled on this thread and your amazing work.
Keep up the fantastic quality, I will comment if I can be so bold that the old masters David Phipps and Michael Costin might be at odds with some of the suspension mounts and loading but be in awe of you quantity and CNC machine work

Cheers Graeme

Thanks you for your kind comments. But for reference look at an original tub esp the front suspension mounting points. It's some times hard to believe that thin gauge Aluminium can take such loads on the shock tower esp. Time will tell but I'm more than confident the load paths and pickup points are way stronger than anything needed for even a race car.

There's actually a better set of molds on the same sight. But the price is let's say above the norm....

I had been to the pub, and due to a few beer had somehow managed to misinterpret your post. Normal service resumed. It makes sense now. smile

Wing here at last, was beginning to think it would never arrive. Now who's going to sponsor us ?
Plenty of room on the wing for a large Naming sponsor !!!!!

Rothmans maybe or Kenwood ??

Clive brilliant posts. Did you do any analyses of the chassis prior to building, your machining etc would imply a very good in depth knowledge of engineering?

It has been talked about, but due to using the GT3 ECU means we would have to use another form of intelligent control unit....
Due to the size of the wing ( being more representative of an original ), we might dial the wing back to below zero degree rake for any high speed runs, so that could be a automatic setting controlled by actuators to.. Lots of options.

Mockup of wing mounts, the wing came with mounts that are to close together so will be making new ones later on. But for now just need to try a few positions....

Even your wooden mock ups look the business! Coat of silver paint and no one will be any the wiser until the wing breaks off at 80 mph!

Does the rear engine cover hinge backwards, will the wing fixed to substructure not hinder it's opening?

So is this going to be a replica of a Kremer GTi then - the wing mounts suggest so.

Have to say I prefer the older long tail shape, but the GTi model will make a more practical Road car.

Trying to bring the wing as far forward as I dare, as this thing is going to make some serious downforce. I'd like to keep it as low as possible in more of a low drag setup, as it has a cord of 420mm and a width nearly 2M so in free air heaven knows what kind of downforce it would generate. But it cant be to low as it would then obscure the tail lights. Well that's all the fun getting it right I suppose...

It would be cool if it could lay down like the Mazda 787 and then lift up for twisty circuits.
