Currently touring some old stomping grounds in Italy from my childhood in the 993 Cab with the gf and the locals are loving it. At least 5 sets if thumbs up / "guuuuud kahrrrrr!" at traffic lights etc per day, normally including some friendly joshing about the only problem being the wheel being on the wrong side hehe Spanish, French and Swiss were generally miserable and scowly, Germans were quite enthusiastically smiley though not surprisingly.

On the downside, city/town roads here are murder with the bilsteins even set to level 1 damping frown drove down the cobbled Appia Antica today and had a better ride than half the tarmacced roads in Ostia. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to tighten up *everything* on the car when we get home.

Enjoy, Mario. Should be doing some bits of the Mille Miglia in a few weeks time!

Italians are normally enthusiastic for any sports cars, glad they are showing their appreciation for the pork though !
Italy is one of my favourite places with some stunning driving and great scenery, the quality of the roads however is pretty dire.
Recent highlights were, the old main road - now classed as a pass between Briancon in France to oulx Italy avoiding the Frejus tunnel, then on to San remo .

If you're anywhere near piacenza take the 45 towards bobbio, stop in the square of bobbio for lunch then follow the road out either towards voghera on the 461, for the pretty views, or follow the 45 towards the coast, it's worth it for amazing roads with endless twisties. Popular with the bikers. the road quality is pretty good too. ( for Italian roads)

Thanks for the info.

We've driven Siena to Greve and back twice in the last couple of days and that's a pretty good stretch of road. Excellent road quality out of towns, and provided you don't encounter too much traffic, very scenic and entertaining in equal measures. Must have driven the road 20 times over previous years, but always in a crappy hire car or similar!
