You are some what missing the point of a sports/supercar if you are always worried about residuals, just have fun and enjoy them, that is the whole point of driving one. There are clearly much better ways to spend your money if holding onto it is what you are concerned about. Personally I prefer the look of the 991 TT over 997 TT, think the design works on the body shape more than the 997.AndrewIC said:

Personally I prefer the look of the 991 TT over 997 TT, think the design works on the body shape more than the 997.It's disappointing to read that expectations have been lowered to such a point with the 911 now that they can launch what is supposed to be a new interpretation of an icon and people will prefer to focus just on the drive rather than the aesthetic design. The new turbo is a design study in not what to do with an icon from an aesthetic point of view. The 991 shell itself is no classic but to extend it to almost comical proportions is something which, given Porsches past form, is now irreversible.
The turbo as an icon has been consumed by a mini-panamera with a 911 badge stuck on the back. That might float some peoples boat but as an Porsche enthusiast I reserve right to object to some of the sacrilege done to this car. I fear the same for the 991 RS.
All said, if you enjoy the new turbo then by all means share the love, just don't expect it to be lauded over by the cognicenti.

Not by a long way and to my eyes looks better than your 997T. But to be honest none of the contemporary Turbos are pretty with their wings and ducting. For me the best looking modern 911 is the 997 GTS, which is just sublime from every angle without any pretence, or perhaps the 991 50th Anniversary.

I think Porsche is generally attracting more 'hate' as the prices have been pushed up and what was once an attainable object has gone the way of Ferrari, Lambo etc and is beyond the reach of most.Over and out !
Personally I still think their products are amongst the most restrained and purposeful in terms of design and I certainly wouldn't wave a s

for me Porsche cars in particular the GT cars, apart from being the most advanced from an engineering point, offer the most fun per £ of any car on the planet and always have done, don't see that they have gone any way like the ones mentioned above that are all at least 100k more , even the 918 that is sold at a loss BTW, is a bargain when you take into account the amount of tech it has on it in comparison to the likes of the P1.....Personally I still think their products are amongst the most restrained and purposeful in terms of design and I certainly wouldn't wave a s

Or you could just make your own mind up. Most 911 Turbos are a bit blingy for my personal taste, but I wouldn't say the 991 is any worse than its predecessor and there are definitely uglier variants around. I always thought the slant nose 930 was an ugly pig of a car, but some people love it.APOLO1 said:

But I don't see how anyone can deny the price inflation that has taken place and with the brand now being more ubiquitous, the Chelsea mums rolling around in Cayennes etc it's easy to see how they are becoming a target for the usual green eyed crowd where before the hardly registered. Perhaps comparisons with Ferrari and Lambo are ill-placed but my point still stands I think.

imv ,they have the pricing apart from the GT3,( but how do you value intrinsic greatness) spot on, would just like to see little less nos on some....= 500 x 918s would have been nice.....but then it would have cost a lot more so.......
