Some of the detailing on the Singers looks very nice, although other bits I'm not so sure about.
But, they are just a 'back dated' 964 - and I presume, if you buy one based on a rhd donor car, the V5 will still say "1990 Porsche 964" not "2015 Singer"?
It's a rich man's toy. The original RSs are now the 'holy grail'.

Not a Porsche, no. Its a RUF and registered as such.However, its not comparable to a Singer is it? The Singer is a retro/modern take on a classic car. The Yellowbird was a highly modified re-imagining of a current model. It was explosive at the time, but sufferred from reliability issues.
The Yellowbird has of course become a bit of a legend, I guess mainly due to that video filmed round the ring with Stefan Roser getting the car at impossible angles in clouds of smoke!

I think they're great. If I had the means....
Personally I think their attention to detail is up there with Pagani's, bits you don't notice at first like the engine lid hinge, front light cluster, oil filler, rear luggage straps, plenum etc. are like jewellery. Certainly it makes a Maclaren look plasticky and very mass produced.
My take on the Singer is that to call it a back-date rather misses the point, its way more than a cocktail of bits from various era's of 911 chucked in a blender with a side order of good intentions . What they've tried to do is imagine what a 911 would be like if the impact bumper cars didn't happen, and then add a big helping of surprise and delight that demonstrates both an obsessive determination to get it right, and a deep love of Porsche's heritage. And best of all, that obsession extends to the way it goes, stops, handles and drives. I've not driven one, but both Harris and Meaden were deeply impressed - good enough for me.
