Porsche Panamera S

Afternoon,

I'm currently driving a Nissan GTR which I love but the finance is due in Oct so I need to get rid of it or buy refinance.

My main issue with the GTR is the back seats, although they are bigger than a 911 they are not really big enough for my growing children.

So I've been looking at alternatives.

I like the idea of a Panamera, I've had a chat with the Cambridge Porsche people and the money works. I'm testing driving an S on Friday and just wondered what people's opinion of them is.

I appreciate that most people think they are deeply ugly and I can completely appreciate that so let's take that as a given!

So apart from the looks, what do people think? anyone got one?

coming from gtr maybe look at turbo, turbo S or GTS.

I'd recommend having owned mine for around 15 months with two kids 13 and 10.

Had 911s before it and kids were too big eventually but they love the Panamera. Had one small issue when fully loaded and making progress on the narrow, twisty coast roads of Corsica last summer the elder one was feeling a bit sick in the back so might be worth making sure they are happy there. Never had an issue other than that day though.

If you can stretch to it, go for the GTS - well worth the extra.

Alternatively, a secondhand GTS (although hard to find) would be a good choice.

Superb car, in fact, it could be all the car you'll ever need!

As for GTS Vs. S..... The GTS came with a whole bunch of nice extras that takes the guessing game out of the best Panamera spec. IIRC they are 4 wheel drive (they are now in the US at least) and have better seats and a few other nice options that make them a very accomplished car.

You are far from alone. Massive road presence with the drivetrain in the right configuration.

If you are looking at a facelift car, the S is now a twin turbo V6, the GTS has always been a V8 as was S prior to facelift. GTS is 4WD and sounds AMAZING with sports exhaust on, you would not be unhappy with one, but you can get the S with PSE. Clearly both cars are not going to be near GTR in terms of performance, but the interior quality will make you smile.

A word of warning though, check the finance options on a GTS would work for you before even getting in one or starting it up, as that is normally when people make the decision with there heart and there is nothing worse than driving something and finding it doesn't work financially.

GTS has another 30hp and 15tq it's the sportiest in the range, it's 10mm lower and 10mm wider track at the back it also has PSE as standard. It will cost a bit more but will be more fun to drive and hopefully retain more of its value.

Not the prettiest thing in the world, but striking. And amazing to drive. A modern 928.
911 for the occasional blast, Panamera for covering distance.
Given the choice twixt a 991 or a Panamera GTS I would now take the latter (and I have had 10 911s).

Edited to add: but I have just turned 50 #middleage so perhaps my taste is altering accordingly. Nothing looks sillier than an older bloke trying too hard in a flash sports car
