Fair Post OP.
Come on Mods/jeremyC?
What is there to hide?
Let's have some transparency.
What is your response to a perfectly fair question?

Not on here for a few hours, disappointed but not surprised that a Crimp poll was removed (had I been tech-savvy enough I may have instigated one myself)

Deeply dissapointing, but, as I said in another post (if it is still there) Oh so predictable when an enthusiasts site falls under "commercial" control. Feckin "suits".

Patience guys, the Mods are volunteers and do not work for PH full time - I am sure the guys in charge will make a comment if & when appropriate. beer

I admire your optimism, though I expect it unfounded, we are a resource to be exploited for profit, period

The mods are indeed volunteers and have full time jobs and lives to live.

Crimp was banned for posting something wholly inappropriate, having had ample warnings over posted content in the past. Users have been banned in the past for less, users will banned for more and less in the future.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed.

Woooooo, a response.
I've spat my dummy out and gone to bed to sulk
Would you like me to pick that dummy up for you?
I'd point out that it's not the mods who are sulking.

I think this has all gone crazey too I met crimp once at a Tipec day where he blow the hose of the gt3 after a blast, a quick conversation and u can tell he big time enthauist, bit sad or should I say extremely sad if u can't make an opinion on a " chat room ". If you can't make your own mind up and make judgement. A very sad do for the internet and proper Porsche enthauists......think he shoukd stay and everyone should get a life!

Is it just me or does this Crimp and now Zero Corrosion affair all seem a bit OTT?

I realise you have a job to do PH mods but I think you may perhaps have got it wrong on this particular occasion.

They're old members and have useful insight. When my engine blew up PH members like them were a fantastically supportive resource as I'm not very technical - if it wasn't for a few guys on here I would have had a £30k engine bill - it would be a shame to lose members like them who actually have the ability to help others out with their extensive knowledge about all things Porsche. PH wouldn't be the same without guys like these.

Give them both a reprieve pls.

The last time they were named (afaik) was in 2009. It does seem to strike everyone, apart from the mods, as odd that the identity of the mods is kept on a par with Batmans real name...

Anyway, they are/were:

Kinky
Big Al.
dazren
FourWheelDrift
Plotloss
Ballistic Banana
Bonce
BO55 VXR
David Godfrey
DennisTheMenace
domster
ehasler
ErnestM
Gazboy
Graham
Hughesie
Meeja
neil_bolton
missdiane
Mrs Fish
Mrs Trackside
nick heppinstall
Nubbin
Stig
TonyHetherington
Tuscan Rat
Mechsympathy
GlenMH
Matt172
ThatPhilBrettGuy

You'll recognise very few of them as they seem, from their posting history, to be mainly inactive members these days.

Whether the Mods are Volunteers or not, they should be accountable and answerable for their actions otherwise it stinks.

I have not questioned why those two members have been banned, BUT simply why a separate post was deleted when members were discussing if it was feasible to indicate a post contained 'adult' material.

I believe Mods are knee jerking and wanted to hear why that broke posting rules.

Mods, the floor is yours...........

Morning everyone. smile

The thread in question was hardly a debate: it only had two posts, and most of that was discussing 'Crimp' not the subject in hand. With everyone around here throwing their toys out of the pram and posting many threads discussing the moderation (and Mr. Length), some with inappropriate content, then sometimes the easiest way to keep it on the straight and narrow is to delete threads and posts if they are off topic.

To answer a few questions:
- Moderators are not assigned to specific forums; we all help out across the site.
- We are all volunteers, and not Haymarket/Pistonheads employees.
- The Posting Rules are the guidelines to which we moderate.
- We see time and time again that the nicest people in real life sometimes become real acensoredses when armed with a keyboard and the internet. wink

What is appropriate on these forums in not dictated solely by what you few individuals think; the site is viewed by many in work environments that come down hard on those looking at inappropriate content, and users of all ages (including kids) can access these threads.

This isn't a corner of the internet for you to share all of your "funny" scenes of nudity - there are plenty of other sites where you can do that. Remember it is not the same as showing the picture on the phone to a bloke down the pub - you are able to make the decision whether it is appropriate to show him. Posting here is potentially showing that image to more than 4 million unknown viewers and you are not in a position to decide whether it is appropriate for all of them.

Sorry, but that does not fully answer the SPECIFIC question and who are you to decide what is 'off topic' in a post?

You are referring to the posts that caused 'you' to ban a member or two...

I am talking about thread that spun-off from that. If it was only two posts, why stifle the debate about if a 'rating' system is possible/feasible and that post did not contravene Posting rules. You keep sidestepping the issue - was it you who deleted the threads and the members ?

Your quote "- We see time and time again that the nicest people in real life sometimes become real arses when armed with a keyboard and the internet. wink"- you are so right and can apply to all ?
