I didn't make a big song and dance about it at the time, but the thread I started a couple of weeks ago about a GT2 with less than perfect provenance was not locked, but deleted wholesale. Whilst that in itself defeats the object of forums such as these. A subsequent thread whereby I questioned why the thread had been deleted was rapidly locked.
That really did boil my p*ss ??

So how about a mass exodus to www.911uk.com ?
Thing is didn't Crimp mention this car also The Silver GT2, sure he mentioned he'd been offered the car at trade price, they must have an avested interest in said car, whats the harm in warning people from spending their hard earned on something as bad as that car in question

Hi all, first post but regular reader of this forum. Pick up my second Porsche next week due to many helpful posts by members on here such as crimps who in essence are the forum. Wrong to ban him without other members complaints.

Without doubt it's gone down the pan.

Apollo can create havoc for months, swear at most most members, contradict himself and claim to be Andreas's best m8 but never gets banned yet Crimp who has been a long standing member of this forum for many years post which is arguable a 'wreckless' post and gets binned immediately without a 2nd chance makes no sense.

I get the mods have 'rules' to work within but some common sense needs to prevail.

Banning crimp now is not a good long term move for the forum .
Anyone else agree ?
What ? Why did crimp get banned ? Wtf is wrong with the moderators ? I'm abroad at the moment hp and have kind of lost touch but even I can see this place is dying .

Edited to add I know why he got banned ( thanks for the e mail ) , personally I rarely post here now . Pity , it was the best forum on earth for a while with some really knowledgeable folk .
I've been a member for nearly 8 years and used to read for about a year before I signed up and looking back it's very different and I'm not wearing the red oakleys .

The way I feel tonight I think this for me is the last nail in the coffin

Poor design of the classified ads has stopped me perusing it. In the past I have bought four cars using the Pistonheads Classified section and sold one using the same

Poor layout of popup and banner adverts which are increasingly intrusive to a point of massive frustration

Over zealous banning of persons and closing/deleting of threads due to truth about cars history etc

Pistonheads my old friend and companion does not now offer me anything.

I understand that the business model requires revenue from adverts in both the forum pages and the classified but really to get the traffic you need to offer something worthwhile to us

I understand it's tough to moderate a forum, but this is a commercial site. Surely the mods here are paid?

Splitting the forums killed it for me, with the front-engined owners moving on, and this is just getting sillier now.

What a shame if the 911 owners move somewhere else as well. PH was at it's best when all the different groups were together in one place: something we don't have anywhere else.

PH went from being unique, to just like all the other forums but with too many adverts, and now with heavy-handed moderation. Great business plan....confused

If you think about it, Porsche owners are possibly more attractive to advertisers than thousands of spotty teens hoping one day to buy a larger exhaust for their Nova. Quality beats volume on t'internet.

I think Forums in general are just going downhill, they were pretty cool 10-12yrs ago when they were more of a niché but now they're largely full of crap or used for mass marketing.

There's some very knowledgable guys here which drew me back to PH (I rarely posted on PH before buying a Porsche even though I've been a member for a long time) but sadly they seem to be disappearing.

Maybe it'll go full circle back to the days of Titanic (before my time) or it'll move more and more to Social media groups.

I've lost interest in PH
When they split up the Porsche forum there was a poll and it was obvious nobody was in favour.
Did the mods listen did they hell.
Why would anybody (customers at the end of the day) give them the time of day.

The old moderators appeared to have a sense of humour, i think the hiding suits or spotty teenage geaks on a power trip are on a different page, all the gear no idea basically
