In my opinion it is merely an extension of the Ferrari forum and the dynamic of many posters has changed from genuine driving enthusiast to drivers less interested in driving for the sake of it and more interested in a top trumps like approach.
To me that is fine, but what isn't are the tantrums, childlike behaviour and general bullying of anyone who does not share the
Opinions of many of the new posters.
My feeling is that it is this behaviour that the moderators should be dealing with. If they don't, the posters who have a genuine desire to share whatever knowledge that they have will simply go elsewhere.
Personally, I've almost had enough and do not feel inclined at all to post anything regarding technical anymore.

This forum went into the bin long ago.
Not because of moderation but because of the sort of people on here now.
"How much will an x be worth in x years"
"I will be getting the first ever uk car so suck on that"
"I love my new cayenne and its adaptive cruise and side facing camera, not driven it yet though"
"The cayman is the new 911"
Etc.
As steve says, too many wallys and very few genuine enthusiasts who like driving, fixing, modifying, racing etc. and really get what its all about.
That said, i hate forms in general and only take a look when boredom occasionally kicks in. Cant bear the bickering, folk incessantly looking for reinforcement, the alienation of it all and the huge limitations of the medium in general. Real life is a thousand times better.

Was going to comment on the other thread, but now that's locked!
So the moderators here are all volunteers?
Surely that's like walking in to Tesco, and offering to work there for free?
I understand the motivation of someone who helps moderate charity sites, clubs etc., but not working for free for a commercial business just to boost their profit.
If you have some spare time, there are plent of good causes that desperately need help. Haymarket aren't one of them.
What's the reason you guys do it?

I spend more time reading this forum than posting - usually because I value the opinions and insight of people like Steve who are more worldly wise about Porsche than me. It would detract from the forum massively if people like Steve stopped posting. Likewise, if people like Mr Length are not on here, the humour element will drop massively as well. At which point the forum will cease to be any near as interesting.......To me that is fine, but what isn't are the tantrums, childlike behaviour and general bullying of anyone who does not share the

Bit of a 'bummer' I missed a bit of ar**ing around by a fellow yorkshire man - one early night and you miss out....
Hi everyone,
Sorry I'm late to the party - been busy (decorating of all things) so didn't see this thread. Anyway, just to keep you all in the loop, I've been in touch with Mr Crimp since his ban as he emailed me to discuss it.
Ironically he's been significantly less agitated about it than you lot and we've had a reasonable chat. He's clearly a popular contributor. The bottom line is that he posted an image which offended people and caused complaints. He is openly admitting that, and that he knows it was a daft thing to do (his words!)
Anyway, the simple fact is that he's previously been warned for posting NSFW images and was issued a final warning a while back. On this basis, when he posted the latest image the moderators issued a straight ban... Which is kind of the done thing following a "final warning"
Now, I'm not claiming to know every last detail of the situation, but as I say I'm discussing it with Mr Crimp and the mods and I wanted to give some reasoning and background to it all.
So, in answer to all of the posts all I'd say is that moderators were fair and didn't issue a ban for no reason.
I hope that this helps to clear things up a bit and sets the record straight - clearly we don't want people to be banned but the rules are there for a reason and we rely on the moderators to inforce them when they're broken.

Thanks for the update.
I'm not supporting or condoning it, but by PH's own admission only 1 (one) complaint was received. Subsequent to that, the Moderators applied their 'own standards' in deleting threads, closing topics that did not contravene any rules.
That is the poor judgement I have issues with...
Also do Mods get paid or expenses by PH/Haymarket or truly volunteers ?
Who are they ?
How are they selected ?
Can they be revoked ?
Let us be transparent about this........

We clearly rely on the judgement of the moderators as things are rarely black and white. The moderators were originally selected by Ted and has evolved over time. However, several of the moderators have been at it since the start and have years of experience.
Oh, and they're paid only in compliments and the occasional pint of ale!

All in all much ado about nothing on this issue, but other rumblings need to be addressed at this juncture. Invite Mr Crimp to become a mod.;)
With the greatest respect, PH as moved on, so has its audience - perhaps time to 'retire' some Mods and bring in some fresh blood before PH loses the plot and a majority of good contributing members ?
When was the last new Mod appointed ?

I'm not in the loop with what happened to trigger all of this apart from some pic
Whilst many of old PH buddies have disappeared and I still don't agree with the name and shame policy but think considering that there is no membership requirement to join it's still one of the best forums.
I can think of a couple of other forums where if you object to a post from certain members, you get attacked by that members mates or if you don't have a certain watch, home or car worth at least 6 figures you are regarded as inconsequential.lol Which to me is not what being an enthusiast is about.

Hi JD, Thank you for the post & offering some explanation. Must admit I find the responses from the mods about threads being deleted & locked somewhat strange. I'm sure that many of the forum will take being referred to as 'a mob' rather insulting. Anyway hope you can take a sensible approach to restoring the status quo. i too noticed the mod, on behalf of haymarket, referring to us, its customers, as a "mob" : a classic ratner moment !DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
Rather strong. Crimp agrees he should not have posted that image.Time to move on, do hope Crimp comes back. Useful lesson for all.
