Silver 993 c2s at HWM
Discussion
Sorry for the lack of replies, I went down on Friday prepared to buy the car but it wasn't prepped as agreed - front splitter had been bumped and so had cracks on both sides, rear middle lens was cracked, headlining was discoloured at the zip and was supposed to be changed and there were some small dimple dents in the bonnet.
After 3 hours of messing around I eventually got a refund of my deposit through their card machine, which I assume is as good as mine again as they can't hold it or cancel it once it's gone through can it?
So back on the look out for a nice 993 Carrera S if anyone has one that they're thinking of selling!

Alvin you've got to show a pic of yours now!
Sometimes you think that these guys get a rough ride then you hear of these stories again and again..just shocking. Some months back me and a mate were part of a Total 911 shoot and this lot supplied 2 cars. One actually needed a zimmer frame to get it to the shoot which delayed it all by a couple of hours and then I think in the end needed towing back. The other was a very low mileage 996 GT3 in Atlas Grey. Even at that time those cars were basically selling themselves but this one just looked so tired - just a basic tidy up inside and out would have been enough.Even with the 6 GT3's starting to sell like hot cakes that car just hung around for months before it finally went (or maybe the real owner took it back).

chasing an individual for defamation?
Just trying to imagine how that would go....HWM: Your honour, Mr X said our car was a heap of poop!
Judge: Mr X, explain!
Mr X: They said it had FMDSH but there was only one stamp for an oil change in 2001 and 12 HWM headed service invoices all dated the 29th Feb every subsequent year....
Judge: Case dismissed! Neeeext!

That's dreadful going after PH .... Swiss Tony what a guy .... Steer well clear ! He can come after me if he likes I look forward to that day in court, publicly shaming them and their ridiculous behaviour.
+1Swiss might find himself in doo doo up to his neck should he try and go legal with me.

It's funny reading this... I am selling my 964 currently, advertised on PH, and I had a call from HWM offering to buy it for a customer of theirs. Having heard all the stories, I was very wary and said as much to Mike (I think that was his name). He said that you only hear negative stories on the internet and it's just an outlet for people who want to moan, would we really still be in business after 40 years AND "Total 911 even used our cars for their recent shoot, they are that good"....................!!!
My response was that I would only do an outright deal, would not leave the car or paperwork with them until I was paid in full, no initial deposit then balance when they received payment. He seemed less keen on this.
He also said they wouldn't make any money on the sale but they make their money on the future servicing of the car for the new owner... they don't even have a workshop as far as I know?!

classic Tone see-through grade A bkswish you'd asked about the workshop - it must exist becasue they did a service on my car apparently
Was a very funny story on here I remember reading a while back. A guy was selling his 911 and they did same old mumble he took the car in and a number of weeks went past and the car remained unsold. He went to get his car and docs back and all of a sudden they couldn't find the key or the logbook etc..He gave them I think another couple of days and decided to go down there and demand it back instantly and they gave him the same rubbish so he took out his spare key turned the ignition on and revved the bks of it filling the showroom with smoke etc..miraculously they found his stuff straight away and gave it all back...I say it is funny but in all seriousness for that chap and for others it isn't. They tried same tactic with me 'we got a buyer for your car standing by take it off Pistonheads classifieds etc'. Amazes me they are still in business.

Hahahahaha. This is quite brilliant. Comedy gold. Yep, you're buying and selling it for love aren't you, you massive tosspot. Back when I started looking for a porker in 2010 I went to see these guys and was unaware of their rep.
I have rarely felt that uncomfortable with a salesperson. I then left and did some research on them and whoosh....it all began to make sense.
Needless to say I bought a 911 elsewhere.
I was at HWM collecting my car after waiting for them to complete the 'rock solid sale' ha ha - (this is after changing the front tyres about 1000 miles early, two trips into london after detailing the car and 2 days of wasted time on the back of a load of bol***ks from Swiss Tony) they had a local specialist there on site picking up a car to take it away to do work on it ... So I'm not sure where their actual workshop is - I didnt see it on site and He said they used a local specialist - There was just a big shed out the back full of cars, not their on stock judging by their filed accounts at Companies House (I pulled these from company house before leaving my car and made them sign an agreement that meant that my car did not form any asset or stock of HWM in case they went under in possession of my car - I also did not leave them with my key and removed tracker fobs so they could not move the car and wrote up a legal letter forbidding them to do any mechanical work on my vehicle). I wasted loads fo time and money as i am self employed - there are other really really good dealers to sell your car to at a reasonable price and very easy to deal with. PM me for details as I dont want to mention there name in same thread as HWM!! Good luck avoiding those jokers...

What I cannot understand is why on earth you would leave a car with a dealer you obviously didn't trust in the first place. I'm guessing it was the temptation of a better return - the oldest and most powerful scam weapon in history. I've fallen for it myself on a number of occasions, but luckily not with expensive assets like cars!Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
