More likely the end of the 991.1. The 991.2 is released in 2015?http://www.gtspirit.com/2014/08/25/porsche-911-gt3...
The 992 will probably be around 2018?

That's exactly what I thought MTR but article suggesting it will be called the 992 not the 991.2. Would seem fairly quick considering 996 and 997 were both around for what 6/7 years in their gen1 and gen2 guises or facelifts...spy shots not always the best things to go by but does look VERY similar to 991..The 992 will probably be around 2018?

Car looks rather afraid of something when you look at it from the front. You do wonder how they intend to implement any form of charge cooler without an obvious air intake. That what the vents behind the doors in a 911 turbo do - the ducting goes up over the rear wheels, down through the heat exchanger and out.
Easy in the Panamera and Cayenne, it's just another radiator in the front but in a rear-engined car it's difficult to know unless that view through the engine hatch gives us a clue.

It would have to look like the turbo cars with those vents, unless going for 1 big turbocharger.Easy in the Panamera and Cayenne, it's just another radiator in the front but in a rear-engined car it's difficult to know unless that view through the engine hatch gives us a clue.
We could also have the same silly naming convention from the Macan that the Macan turbo is the highest performing variant, conveniently forgetting that the humble S and even the gasping oil burner have turbos too. So the use of the word "turbo" which has always meant high performance will be diluted.
They've never done another rear or mid-engine production turbo before so it will be interesting to see how they do it though of course in the early 911 turbos, the intercooler was in the tea-tray.
Maybe they will differentiate the "real" turbo from the cooking cars by bothering to paint the ducts instead of leaving them looking like cheap guttering.

Taped over central radiator space suggests something new going on at the front for cooling.
I would imagine the new 50th anniversary type rear decklid has new air intakes or cooler underneath it.
Also, there appears to be tape and or photo correction between the rear wheel arch and roof. Possibly covering a 993 turbo style side air intake.

With the Targa only just being released and the issues with the GT3 delaying an RS version, surely a Gen 2 version won't appear until much later in 2015; this would allow a years worth of GTS money spinning production next year.
I also thought 991 came out Sept 11, so 4 year life cycle......

Maybe it's been triggered by the impending competition from Mclaren and others. According to how many left the 991 sales numbers don't look stellar and outside the initial group of owners on here, the number of people posting up pictures of their new 991 lately (gt3 aside) is minimal.
