Yes but.

You will scrape the splitter anyway even if you have the lift. Most of the time its the brake cooling ducts that are scraping anyway. I know of two that have caused major headaches and had the whole lot replaced under warranty. This is one where the "what goes up must come down" phrase doesn't always apply smile

If you have it then great but don't sweat being without it.

Only overpriced if it doesn't sell. Price of 4.0 RS is constantly pulling these in the same direction. Brain says the difference in reality between 3.8 - 4.0 doesn't justify price hike but common sense doesn't always prevail. People said that the Blue 4.0L at JZM was mad money at circa £350,000 but it went for around £330,000 and now the new owner is spending money having the RS decals added.

How about this 7.2 RS for 170k then? It may cost more than a new RS but it's a nice colour and has an old fashioned gearbox.

I looked at that car on Friday when I was at JZM. It is immaculate and the underneath is as clean as the top. The only minor issue is the price but isnt that always the case. However, with such low miles would you use it or tuck it away?

I turned this car down at £155k. It was one of the initial cars I tried to buy in June this year, he named his price and I said yes (£130k) but owner then wasn't playing ball and everytime we touched base price went up. Agreed a deal just last week, the next day he sent it to JZM..

The hunt continues

As I remember it, JZM sold that blue car earlier this year for low £120s, so £169k is a hell of a leap in 6-7 months. Last two to sell a couple of months back were around £130k. Will be interesting to see if it sells. I personally think it's toppy but who knows?

Yes 120. The 130k 'deal' was pretty much straight after too, so I knew (and didn't mind) the £10k increase. Not £35k though...

Is it me or are JZM pretty much dictating the market for these? They ask whatever they want and it is seen as the 'new market price'. Owners make a profit and the dealer does well-everyone wins?

Well this works as long as buyers turn up! But anyone looking at this one will certainly remember the last couple selling 6 weeks ago at £130k (ish) and probably think hmmmmmm...... I know I did. Like I say, be interesting if it goes quickly which would suggest somewhere near that asking price. It is mint and low mileage though, so will probably command a premium.

JZM do seem to move a lot of cars. Stock doesn't hang around so difficult to argue about sticker price. Other dealers are selling cars but not getting noticed as much. Marque 1 cars just sold this one.

http://www.marque1cars.com/porsche

Advertised at £149,900 and went for circa £148,000, owner got £145,000 for the car.

Depressing if you are a true Porsche enthusiast wanting to own one. Slightly less depressing for enthusiastic owners who like the increasing value but bought them to drive and now can't afford to!

Often speak to Russ about selling mine but difficult to knwo when the market is likely to calm down. Anyone out there got a crystal ball?

Is that the same car advertised further down their page at £92K ?? Nice little earner for someone to put 6K miles on a car!

The blue car at JZM was originally mine. I specced it from new and was advised directly and indirectly that this was not the sensible colour choice. I owned it for 1000 miles, drove it as would be appropriate for an RS, and then decided to SOR it in favour of a Turbo S as i wanted a car I could use every day.

The car sat at ~£10k under list for ages, the new owner finally committing after much deliberation about the colour.

I almost fell of my chair when I saw the price. Unbelievable! How did these cars become collectable? A 4L I understand but not a 3.8.

For goodness sake, if you can afford it buy a CGT. A 997 (whichever iteration) cannot be compared in anyway whatsoever.

if that's the car I'm thinking about it was offered around £~110k over the winter by someone at OPC Guildford for a direct private sale.. so the price now is a bit of a shocker to put it mildly.
