A deal has fallen through on an RS I was trying to buy, is anyone looking to sell theirs soon?

How does a deal `fall through`?
Unless the owner decided to hang on whilst values continue to rise.
What colour & spec you looking for on an RS 3.8?

Could be any number of things:

Car not as described on inspection
Damage or over-revs discovered on inspection
Couldn’t agree a price
Seller changes their mind

It doesn’t really mater why it fell through… it just did.

I’m hanging on to mine (3.8 RS) and it would appear that most other owners are to.

I think most (who want to) will choose to sell in the Spring; prices drop during Winter generally and most will want to maximise their return by waiting it out for a few months – unless of course you can find someone who ‘has’ to sell for financial or other reasons.

There is one RHD 3.8 RS for sale via a dealer that is advertised on here, but it’s strong money. I’m guessing it’s SOR and the owner will wait it out over Winter expecting the market to meet the asking price eventually in the Spring.

Several deals have fallen through because they decided not to sell in the end, or it's a case of 'I'll call you in a month and ask for a little more money' type thing.

I'm ready to buy, but not in any hurry really

I went through exactly the same experience as you with several cars..

I have a white with gold, 15,500 miles, alloys scuffed on the passenger side (doh!!) .
PM me if you're interested.
I'm taking it to Nurburg in two weeks tho, so you'll have to be quick if you'd rather I didn't . . .

What colour combo and spec is yours?

I spent ages looking because Blue/Gold is the only colour combo I liked, unless it had been colour to sample.

It's very high spec and after 9 Porsches including a 996 GT3, 997 RS.1 and a 997 GT2 I am pleased to have one in the garage. Have driven the 4.0 RS but prices are just bonkers.

Sorry I've only just seen this - mine is Grey/Black with Red - there's a picture in my profile.

Spec' is pretty much everything minus the front lift - red belts and red cage - pretty much perfect for me...

Hi. I saw your car at the Hedingham car park this morning. Looked super.
Will post some pictures when I get a chance.

Still on the hunt.

Had a few PM's so thank you for them all, but I am looking for someone who actually wants to sell their car as I actually want to buy smile

The white RS 4.0 at Hatfield is not for sale, it is on display until the car is UK registered.

Well, I had a bit of mixed feelings with that on Sunday morning.

Took the car out of the garage and the bloody thing would not lower back down to normal height!
After 10 minutes of trying and rebooting (i.e. turning the car on and off!)...decided to just drive off and hope it lowers due to speed being too high...that sorted it.

I specifically looked for a car without it when purchasing!
It’s not the first time I have heard of cars having issues with it locking in to one position or the other.

I have come to accept that the front splitter will suffer the occasional scrape and now treat it as a ‘consumable’ – they’re not that expensive to replace and it will allow entry or exit from most places at a sufficiently slow pace. Likewise the front brake cooling ducts in extremis can rub, but again not too expensive to replace when viewed against the original cost of front-lift as an option or the potential issues that might come with the added complexity…

I have the lift on two cars and they are great, it's true though you do have to drive the car for it to come down occasionally, unless you know this it can cause a little panic http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/9.gif

Front-axle lift is actually worth the money.

Having owned GT3's and a GT2 previously (no axle lift) it's easy to say consider the splitters as consumables. But it's the additional faffing around getting the splitter and getting it installed that gets to be a right PITA.

Only once has the lift failed to go down straight away but that may have been user error pushing the button too many times in quick succession. I think it comes down automatically once you start speeding up anyway. Glad to have it as it saves embarrasement when driving down unfamiliar roads and encountering sleeping poliecmen or crappy raod surfaces.
