What a choker!

I like the Riviera blue car with Lime Green wheels.

Shame about the accident but nice to see such a big grid of cars!

The super slow-mo was incredible.

(From a spectators pov, obviously)

I've never seen anything like that before. Hugely exspensive if not insured.

Are race cars insured then???

If you look closely, its actually the momentum of the wheel that rips the engine out. The bodywork just folds back on both cars

seems the road cars do that with that 991 GT3 dropping its engine at no speed.

Its up to the individual but there are plenty of organisations out there who offer competition car insurance. I guess it depends on how much the car is worth, but I rarely compete without cover on my Evo.

Great camera shots. Glad the driver appeared to be ok, such an unlucky accident for so much damage to be caused.

Do Porsche follow this sort of thing up for future reference for safety, especially as it's so closely linked with their road cars? I thought the same thing after the Sean Edwards tragedy last year too.
