No, different car by the sounds of it. Your new project on your profile sounds very interesting !!!

Yes it is David Lees car. What were you racing? I used to help David at some of the race weekends. It was good fun. Brought back some good memories viewing the car again last week. I would love to buy it, but don't think the Mrs would be best pleased !
Narrow bodied 3.2 Carrera with a 3.3 turbo engine. Iris blue metallic. We had some very close races. I had more outright speed but Dave had better brakes and handling.
I'd say, buy it if it is reasonable money. You only live once smile
Ah yes, I remember your car. Is it still about in the same spec?

AFAIK there were only 2 RHD Rubystone RS's that were officially registered, so its certainly rare if it never made it to the DVLA.

Any idea how many RHD 964RS came to the UK?

I imagine so. It was up for sale maybe 4 years ago for around £20K I think.

A pic of the car in action with the Marsh Plant Aston and Richard Chamberlains 935 before the orange paint job.

I found this image with it in the back ground

I have an interest in this thread, because my Dad (Ray Hollyman) used to race in the intermarque and Porsche open around the same time in a similar car, his is a Porsche 964 cup, with wide body work and a turbo. He still has it, we've been testing it with a plan to getting it racing again next year.

I have an other similar car, that started life as an RS, then got written off and re shelled with an unregistered shell from porsche in 1996, and has now been a race car the rest of its life. unfortunately it doesn't have an RS chassis number so don't imagine its worth very much.

Very interesting, what series are you planning to race in next year? Would be interested to see pics of your cars. Any other period photo's?!

I'll do the AMOC intermarque agian next year in one of the 964's, the na one needs an engine rebuild first though, so depends how long it takes to get bits for that, and also depends how successful our test program goes for the turbo as to which car we use.
I have no period photos at all, of either car, just current ones. shame really, they were both used just before the digital era, so not much on the internet either.

Wow, I heard that was coming onto the market. I saw some photo's of the restoration. It was completely stripped back to bare metal and everything renewed/replaced/restored. That has definitely been a 'money no object' rebuild, but is an indication of where they think the market is for top end Cup Cars. Be interesting to see if it sells quickly or not...

Just remembered nigel barrett drove the twin supercharged one ( I think ) its been a while. And yes the cayman is a great project, just taking to long waiting for bloody parts. Hollinger are being a nightmare answering emails about once a month!

A bit late this - Craig's car was one of 2 - I had the other one - Mine was the one that was single, then twin supercharged. I think Craig's car was left as it was. Probably irrelevent now!

Never too late, but I had forgotten about this thread!
Thanks for the update Nigel. I thought it was your car as it definately had the supercharger.
David did sell the car to Paul McLean I believe... Be interesting to see what he does with it.
Thanks for all your responses.
