Not sure why it overflowed to start with, but If you take a "squeegee" and push petrol in to places it should never be, then that probably doesn't help...

if so, will probably delay the 991 RS.
Probably, yes...may even mean the end of the 918, RS...then GT3 and the cooking 911. Let's all hope so.

I would expect the Cayman to go in 2015, the Boxster to follow and Porsche concentrate on what they are good at, the Panamera and Cayenne....diesels obviously wink

Incredible. Is that the super-expensive paint finish too he's running the squeegee against? Does anyone know where exactly ignition happened, presumably the manifold is still the chief suspect?

even if user error...this will get the attention of more than a few certifying bodies.....

Still...how different to refueling a motorbike and overflowing...with exposed hot surfaces in proximity...

Apparently not - it seems to have started in the wheel area. There are pics of fire there before spreading.

Ironically, I am in Stuttgart today at Porsche, but they aren't saying much at the moment, and guys I spoke to only know what's on web.

Perhaps it's magic indeed but at least I don't go round insulting people under various guises as spacemanxxx/redfive1/apolo1 aka your current incarnation.
sorry only, A, 1 and 2......as for insulting.....never at any time......
If you cannot see that your posts are insulting, that is rather sad. Were you on the Macca forums?

A lot of people here have a very long association with Porsche, and it is not just about profit they can make from a car.

As stated, started low down, not at exhaust outlet...

In the film you can see fire on the floor, if he had a massive overflow that probably ran under the car, the fumes may well have ignited.

most fires are oil leaks and hot cats in cars make any oil leak a fire risk.
Interesting info.
It's petrol vapour that burns rather than the liquid.
I'd read it was brake fluid as it has a low flash point. Throw petrol on an exhaust it will just evaporate brake fluid will ignite.
