Macan waiting list

Just had a head-turning weekend loan of a Macan S diesel. So impressed that even my wife was doing man maths, justifying the car as a replacement for our Q5.
But - Porsche Edinburgh are quoting a waiting list of approx 24 months for ordered cars.
Does anyone know of an OPC quoting a significantly shorter time than that?
We did ask about the demo car, but apart from the fact it was up-specced to a crazy level, it was sold before it arrived.
It's first owner will get a 6 month-old, 10k mile car at list price. No thanks.
I've just placed a deposit and was also quoted 2 years for a diesel. Does anyone know if any new models are expected between now and then. I heard the gts was coming but I'd like a more powerful diesel. But - Porsche Edinburgh are quoting a waiting list of approx 24 months for ordered cars.

2 years?!Crazy! Thought New RR Sport 1 year wait was bad enough!
I keep up on models but don't know of anything. Maybe consider a Cayenne?
I visited Leipzig in April and saw them hard at work making Macans, several hundred a day . The problem is more lack of allocation than lack of production. I doubt that the wait in Porsche's largest markets - China and the U.S. - is anything like as long because they are notoriously intolerant of delivery delays. In China, especially, cars have to be in stock or the punters with money to burn will simply go elsewhere.
I learned the lesson when travelling to the U.S. in 1990, I saw 964 Carreras on the lot unsold while I was being forced to wait 15 months for mine.
There is always the option to go elsewhere but the Macan occupies a segment that resonates with those in the market who are unlikely to want an Evoque, RR Sport or other premium SUV.

I test drove the Macan S Diesel today and while the waiting list at my OPC is 12-18 months, the salesman did say he may be able to get one quicker. So maybe if the waiting list is a deal breaker, then there may be a bit of localised queue jumping?
Yes, there can be a bit of manipulation, but dealers don't yet know how many they will get next year. Most guess similar to this year. So maybe telling you something you want to hear will convince you with nothing based on fact?? Who knows, but I recon 12 months min for a Diesel S. Dave Thornton said:

Having just been worked over on a promised delivery date of mid-Sept for a Boxster GTS (still not ready for collection) I would get any undertaking to deliver early in writing (preferably in blood) with agreed discounts for every month late.Triple7 said:
Porsche owned centres have the biggest allocations and shortest wait lists. Rumour has it Hatfield OPC seem to have the shortest wait time, but they may also be telling porkies. Who knows. The allocation of a build doesn't seem to be first come first serve, best to get a deposit down somewhere and harass until received.
Thanks for the tip - Hatfield OPC quoting me July 2015.RSVP911 said:

Had the same experience, local OPC very good but long waiting list.
Felt it was also too small in the back for passengers and the boot space was seriously restricted.
Nice looking but flawed IMO....also about as masculine as a Tutu....ladies only need apply I feel.
Oh dear , better sell mine then !Felt it was also too small in the back for passengers and the boot space was seriously restricted.

Porsche Mayfair had a white Macan Turbo in stock and for sale pre Xmas when I had a wander in.
Price was £70 k and it seemed to have a good few extras on it , I don't know what list price is pre extras.
They also had a 991 C2S pdk. with loads of extras on with a retail of £119k , so maybe they do over spec them deliberately.

Local dealer does this. With long waiting lists a well specced car will sell given that by definition it will have the popular options loaded and someone will always pay a bit more (for superfluous other options) to avoid waiting.... I suppose it kind of works for both parties.Price was £70 k and it seemed to have a good few extras on it , I don't know what list price is pre extras.
