2 years?!Crazy! Thought New RR Sport 1 year wait was bad enough!
I keep up on models but don't know of anything. Maybe consider a Cayenne?
I visited Leipzig in April and saw them hard at work making Macans, several hundred a day . The problem is more lack of allocation than lack of production. I doubt that the wait in Porsche's largest markets - China and the U.S. - is anything like as long because they are notoriously intolerant of delivery delays. In China, especially, cars have to be in stock or the punters with money to burn will simply go elsewhere.
I learned the lesson when travelling to the U.S. in 1990, I saw 964 Carreras on the lot unsold while I was being forced to wait 15 months for mine.
There is always the option to go elsewhere but the Macan occupies a segment that resonates with those in the market who are unlikely to want an Evoque, RR Sport or other premium SUV.

Yes, there can be a bit of manipulation, but dealers don't yet know how many they will get next year. Most guess similar to this year. So maybe telling you something you want to hear will convince you with nothing based on fact?? Who knows, but I recon 12 months min for a Diesel S. Dave Thornton said:

Having just been worked over on a promised delivery date of mid-Sept for a Boxster GTS (still not ready for collection) I would get any undertaking to deliver early in writing (preferably in blood) with agreed discounts for every month late.

Porsche owned centres have the biggest allocations and shortest wait lists. Rumour has it Hatfield OPC seem to have the shortest wait time, but they may also be telling porkies. Who knows. The allocation of a build doesn't seem to be first come first serve, best to get a deposit down somewhere and harass until received.

. The dealer (Porsche Reading) said the current UK waiting list is >12 months. My wait was "only" 8 months.Porsche Mayfair had a white Macan Turbo in stock and for sale pre Xmas when I had a wander in.
Price was £70 k and it seemed to have a good few extras on it , I don't know what list price is pre extras.
They also had a 991 C2S pdk. with loads of extras on with a retail of £119k , so maybe they do over spec them deliberately.

Local dealer does this. With long waiting lists a well specced car will sell given that by definition it will have the popular options loaded and someone will always pay a bit more (for superfluous other options) to avoid waiting.... new to this forum (and porsche!) placed deposit for diesel s in sep14 dealer says i am no 30 on list. forecast allocation is 22 to april but still says my delivery is Q3/Q4. is he talking it up? or after a premium? grateful for advice i am new to this. wonder if also being female he thinks he can string me along a bit?!
