new to this forum (and porsche!) placed deposit for diesel s in sep14 dealer says i am no 30 on list. forecast allocation is 22 to april but still says my delivery is Q3/Q4. is he talking it up? or after a premium? grateful for advice i am new to this. wonder if also being female he thinks he can string me along a bit?!
If I were you, I'd be inclined to ring around a few other Porsche dealers, and see if the same delivery leadtime is being quoted. If you find a shorter waiting list elsewhere, then try and negotiate a shorter delivery time with your current dealer, or ask for your deposit to be returned. Your deposit is fully refundable until you actually spec your car.

Thank you thats really helpful. Going to get on the phones now. Got a steel vs PASM vs air question too but maybe better get a more reasonable spec date first...!

I had a Macan S Diesel, and it had PASM with 20" wheels, and I found the ride perfect. The consensus appears to be that if you want 21" wheels, then its best to go with air suspension.

I was in OPC yesterday and told 6 months for a diesel as well. They are getting extra allocation. The downturn in China and Russia driving an unexpected benefit to us Brits!

Petrol and turbo still with a long wait though.

My OPC (large dealership) reckons they have no build slots in 2016 for petrol S. They are getting 4 X GTS in first half & don't know the second half allocation yet. Turbo is a similar story to GTS. Diesels about 4 months lead time.

You can get lucky with dealers if you shop around as another dealer potentially had an April build for a Turbo which as I was an existing Porsche customer (!!!) he could maybe allocate to me ahead of other customers if the original purchaser delayed his delivery. Lovely to see the loyalty of the sales guys to existing customers as I had never been in their dealership before and they were bumping me hugely up the queue based on a 30 minute visit.

I ordered a Macan S petrol back in June 2015 and been told by the dealer I am unlikely to take delivery of it until Q4 2016 which would make it near enough 18 months which is ridiculous.

The dealer originally told me I'd get it by January 2016 and has delayed it twice. If I'd have known it was going to be this long to get one I definitely would have got something else.

Have you looked at the option of buying a low mileage used car?

Ish - I have nothing against used cars but this time round I really want a new one.

In case anyone is interested, I'm about to swap my s diesel for a turbo.

Not generally a fan of private sales but happy to discuss if there are any genuine private buyers.

Mine is a 65 plate, less than 2k miles. Good spec, in black/black colour combo.
