Having watched so many GT3 videos , one which claimed the cars are built at Porsche's Motorsport Division. Does that mean the whole car , or is it part built on the standard production line then transported to the the MD ? Also how long does it take to build the car from start to finish. I guess that mine will be one of the last to be produced, which begs the question as to how many there will be actually produced in total for the UK. Does anybody know?

132, minus the ones that have been totalled.

I put money on it that there will be a second run, its just a case of how many and will it hit 250 units. Imo, if there is a second run it will hit the 250 figure.

The cars are built on the same line as the normal 911s, seen it with my own eyes. Aside from the differing cosmetics which are business as usual, most of the GT3 uniqueness is down to the running gear which is added to the body in the "marriage" and even that is pre-assembled there, albeit from different components from a cooking 911. For the road cars at least, the idea that the standard GT3 is assembled offline is fantasy.

Awesome news Rob! Very pleased for you thumbup

As for what to check, I would echo a lot of what has already been said...

Make sure you have ALL the options you ordered, check the car thouroughly and make sure everything works
Make sure the car is blemish and dent free on every panel
Double check on the extended warranty
If you want to put film on, go for the Paintshield option and get the car detailed before you apply it
Maybe look into getting winter tyres put on as I know you will want to drive it over the winter
Ask the OPC what the official running-in process for the engine is (and then post back what they say here)

Also...

Check you have tax on the car before you drive away from the dealer (no tax disc now remember)
Make sure it fits in your garage and change the Aston Martin poster in there to a Porsche one biggrin

Lastly....

Let me know when you and Andy go out for a drive in Wales thumbup
Hi Kul,

Without doubt I am getting a bit excited now even though we probably have at least 5 weeks to go. Really want to get this GT3 thing right first time. The nightmare of going back and forth getting things sorted is not one I wish to repeat. I intend contacting my OPC to sort out the Silverstone driving tuition thing. I want Molly to do it as well as she can without doubt get a move on when required. My experience of cars with the engine sitting in the boot is quite limited.

Please could I have more info regarding winter tyres that do not infringe on Porsche's warranty. Knowing me I shall just press on regardless. rolleyes

Before I tackle my OPC with regard to the extended warranty am I correct in saying that Porsche are offering a 4th year warranty on all new GT3's being delivered F.O.C. As an alternative the third year invoiced one is to be free of charge?? I do not wish to get it wrong and look a knob.

Kul, I will be in touch as regards dalliances into Wales with Andy though we have also been discussing Scotland. Yee Hah !!! smokinbeerbounce
Any further news on the 4th year warranty for new cars delivered in November. Mine has a build date of 6 November and like you I don't want to appear a fool as 3rd year is a cost extra so what about 4 th year??

Try James Walker at Ti22 vehicles, he does work for Porsche Bristol, and am sure would travel up to Tewkesbury.
Thanks for the recommendation! I do travel, and have done quite a few GT3's - Looks like the OP is in Jay's very capable hands, great choice.

RobGT3 and Cbax........unless you have a letter from Porsche GB confirming the extra years goodwill warranty which was offered for most OPC engine swap/delayed factory cars, it may be that for the final run cars such as yours you will just receive the standard two year manufacturers warranty but with the 'automatic' third year £1020 warranty inclusively added to your invoice. Personally I would be inclined to take this having regard to the potential costs of future repairs to the car........yes

Thanks for the reply, just as I expected and yes I will be taking the 3rd year warranty for piece of mind. Can't wait for delivery, just hope that this warm weather stays with us for the time being smile

Hi Guys

I'm another long time lurker that's read every page of both the Prospective GT3 owners threads, (more than once I think!). In fact I think I have trawled every website and video review going on the GT3. I initially thought I had missed the boat regarding getting a GT3, but as fortune would have it my OPC had to reschedule the service on my 991 C2S in June and I was then at the OPC collecting my car when the principal casually mentioned the possibility of a second run. I put a deposit down there and then, about the 16th June I think, but it still looked as if an actual car was unlikely. However it's worked out well for me, my car is now slated to be built around the 7th November, similar to a few other cars on here.

Interestingly I emailed Clare at PCGB directly about a week ago regarding the 4th year warranty as I had seen an advert on PH for a brand new delivery mileage car with the 4th year already added, you won't be too surprised to hear I have heard nothing back. I then emailed Porsche direct via their website with the same question a few days after emailing Clare, and have had nothing back from them either. But I have just looked at my contract and it clearly states the 3rd year warranty is a dealer added cost extra.

On the other subject in this thread, I have spent hours researching the different possibilities regarding winter tyres/wheels. I came to the conclusion that the only real solution was to bite the bullet and get the recommended Turbo S wheel/tyre combination as advertised by Porsche. I was lucky and found an immaculate, lightly used set on the net for a decent amount below MRRP. I am having them fitted before I collect the car in December. While it riles me that I will have to pick the car up with out those incredibly sexy GT3 wheels fitted, I'm happy in the knowledge I can safely get the car home without the dramas that having Cup tyres on in December could generate. I'm 60 miles away from my OPC, and by having winters on I can then get the running in done through the winter and have the car ready to rock and roll as soon as the weather improves. It's a personal decision that each of us has to make, some will want to go the winter tyres route, others will be happy to stay with the Cups and just use the car as each day dictates.

Anyway, enough for my first post. To those that have the car already, I envy you. For the rest of us waiting to have our cars delivered, it's not long to go now, and by all accounts the anticipation doesn't do the car justice.

Hi Alpine..

I have gone for Jet Black, I was set on white but my other half wasn't at all keen. I think white shows the cars curves and details off better but black has a menacing presence to it. In photo's at least the black cars seem to lose the cars lines, and the ducts and vents get a bit lost. I haven't seen a 991 GT3 in Jet black in the flesh but being a bit of a amateur photographer I know how hard it can be to accurately show some subjects, I'm sure it will look better when I'm stood next to it. Again as I want to use the car as a daily, and my other half wants to be able to use it I have had to go for 18 way adaptive sports seats rather than buckets. I'll definitely track it, but probably in all truth not heavily, even so I went for steel brakes, they aren't exactly shoddy.

I drove the PCGB GT3 when it was at my local OPC, the red one with PCCB's, and yes the brakes were epic, but on the road, 99.9% of the time I can't see the steels being underpowered.

Looking forward to getting the car....

We were treated to some serious hospitality at Dick Lovett Tewksbury last night at their grand opening do. Had loads of Champers and a canapé ! The balance was perfect! Emma my patient sales person checked her computer and there is still not a specific build date in November. I was assured though that status will change very soon. Amongst the new cars was the winning Carrera Cup car together with its driver. He listened to all my questions and allowed me to sit in it. Amanda has filmed me struggling to get out . Depending on the embarrassment level the clip might get posted.wobble

Down to about 4 weeks now! Made me wonder who will be getting the last one built. Can we do some chassis number tracking? The last few numbers will suffice. Might also be a good way of finding out just how many are being built for the UK. I assume GT3 numbers will be consecutive . Porsche will not confirm total build number.
