Hi guys I've just put a deposit on a 2003 (52) boxter 3.2s triptronic for the Mrs . It looks like an exceptional example with 54000 miles done. Any problems I should be aware of guys. Ie gear box ? Cheers Mike.

Cheers for all that info mate. This car has full service history and seams a genuine car from a pucker dealer. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet as its in London area and I'm in MIDDLESBROUGH

Why not?

It's a good gearbox, if not quite up there with the latest from ZF, and makes for a very useable everyday car.

I have a tiptronic 986S, having tested the CLK, Z3 and Z4.

Whilst it's not quite as sharp as a manual car, it's in a whole different league to the front engined / RWD opposition.

Thank you. I do understand a stick shift would be better for a sports car and for the driving enthusiast but this is a second car for the Mrs and won't be thrashed. Cheers lads . Mike

Mike, you'll be fine. Four years ago I bought a Tip 3.2S for the missus. It was a 2004 car and still only has 23k on the clock and we have no plans to sell it.

She loves it, its a great car for what you've bought it for. We even did a nice run from Lincolnshire to Scotland for a wedding and it was perfect for that entertaining but not stupidly uncomfortable sports car type use.

I also have a 996.2 GT3, 500bhp Evo VI and an E60 M5 and I enjoy driving the Tip Boxster, granted its not as much fun as some of the others but I've had some fun in it, don't listen to the naysayers here.

Regards
Fred

Cheers bud. Have a look at it and tell me what you think. It's at Inglebys Ltd .. There's only one boxster there cos he deals in Rollers as a rule .

Got a 987 Boxster 2005 plate manual. The best gear change and clutch I have ever had. Why people have tip or pdk baffles me.

Lots of good reasons for a Tip. My good lady was unlucky enough to be in a head on crash when she was 18 when an MGB came round a blind bend on the wrong side of the road. She doesn't limp but prolonged use of a clutch causes her a lot of pain in her leg.

She wanted a Porsche so it had to be a Tip, excellent reason for one

Price looks about right for a dealer car with warranty.

Not sure about the Savannah leather interior, though.

Doesn't appear to have upgraded audio, so budget for that as the standard fit speakers are awful - really needs an amp and better / more speakers.

Watch that plastic rear window in cold weather.

Savannah wears pretty well, I have it in my 996.

Look at centre console delete kits, frees up lots of knee room for your left leg.

Facelift cars (with glove box & in-dash cupholders) have a glass rear screen.

It looks like the interior wants a thorough clean, driver's footwell look particularly grubby, will look a lot better once done.
