I think for a new to Porsche owner then £75k is worth it, the R was over £60k in good spec.

But a few of us R owners adding £35k to our R's now they are at £40k to get a GT4 is not an easy call.

10k on top of an R for a top up and refresh with tricks parts is still only £50k and could see you In a 360 BHP car with coilovers and £25k spendo !!

So, no a GT4 is def not worth 35k on top of an R, but it is shiny and new lol....

I don't mind taking the risk as long as it steers ok, I cannot abide the electric steering, I can put up with most other things, but the R steering is so good, even better than GT3 steering imo (after it's set up) that will be hard to loose.

I have my Spyder to fall back on though for that passive damper, direct steering and real LSD feel. phew.

I really need a 991 GT3 owner to let me have a drive ;-)

the fact that the museum-car was a "basic" yellow ain't a good sign...

If it's going to have a wing like the pics we've seen, then it's not going to be stealthy in any colour. So lairy may well be the way to go. For some reason I think that Orange may be the answer...

Would someone please be kind enough to point me in the direction of somewhere I can see the museum ad? I've seen the still-screens but (despite some effort in searching...!) haven't managed to find the film. Thanks in advance!

Sounds about right. The only rumour I haven't heard is that it's going to be a turbo diesel.

I am still hoping for a genuinely fast, fun and yet usable car rather than an all out track-car.
A meteor-grey Cayman R would hit that spot but the design is getting too dated for me and I prefer not to buy used.

I know what you're going to say now. No. I tried a GTS and while it was nice it just doesn't feel special enough for me.

Hopefully the GT4 won't be too extreme with a suspension thats twice as hard as the GTS X73, a splitter so low that it requires a lift kit to get around town, a huge rear wing and so on.

I hope to be able to configure a 3.8L 981 version of this next week. My chances are slim after the seeing rear of that yellow car with the massive wing.

All these people obsessed about colour - surely the most important thing is how it drives?

Just shows how this car will appeal to a new sort of driver, not the true enthusiast...

Maybe it will get one of those "self parking" systems you can option in a Focus?

Don't worry, cupholders will be standard.

Hard to call. Yellow might be a good shout however, this was the Cayman S launch colour and now the GT4 has been teased in the promotional video, this makes it the most unlikely of candidates.

It is unlikely to be White (GT3) or Orange (GT3 RS) and Red would confuse the branding with the GTS.

My money is on some shade of either Green or Blue.

I'd buy a GT4 in that colour.

I really hope it is track biased! Hard suspension, big wings, crap over speed ramps, uncomfortable to commute in, the works, so it stops wealthy blokes in London having 'the next big thing' because they can!

If you want a fast, useable sports car, there are plenty of options out there: Cayman, S, GTS, 911, S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S. Even an Audi TTRS (if 'MrD/GT4/Susan at weekends' is to be believed), R8 etc!

They make enough cars for people like you, for god's sake, let them make something raw, capable and analogue for the few that want one!

Best of luck! smile

Works for me....as long as people stay away from Viper Green!

edit...if I don't like it or I don't get the allocation I'm thinking Gallardo.
