FFS it's pretty simple really.

If you think you want one, ring up your OPC and give them a deposit to bag yourself a car. If in ONE DAYS TIME you don't like the spec then get your deposit back!

Its not like months ago when some OPC's were asking for deposits and you effectively 'lost' that cash for months...... now its only a couple of days at the most - hell! Say its a week to be on the safe side!

Tying up £3-5k in a deposit for a week or two (at the most) is not going to break the bank is it?

My OPC has just e-mailed me to say they are contacting customers today who have given a LOI to make them aware the sale of the GT4 may go live tomorrow and customers will only have a small window of an opportunity to make a purchase.

They said the deposit level is £10,000, they require this the minute it's launched if not beforehand and still does't guarantee allocation (that is subject to Porsche and the Dealer Principal's prefered customers).
Sorry but that sounds ridiculous. Typical scare tactics in my eyes. Clearly the chaps at Porsche marketing know what they are doing. Bag as many deposits as possible to lock in customers with the rarity and a suggested "potential investment opportunity". And then the car is out, the floodgates open. See Cayman R launch. Many LOIs before the launch, many discounted cars sitting in the dealership months later.
I'm #2 on the LOI list for my dealer and will study the specs long and hard before making a decision.

Unlike back then the market now seems full of people that snap up anything that could be a potential future investment and in my opinion you're kidding yourself if you think that Porsche won't try to cash in on that. I hope I'm wrong.

Don't know what to do / think here as there are so many OPC's saying different things....
painfull

my OPC does not want any deposit yet, depending on Price as Porsche have levels of deposit , it will be either 3k or £5k

then when you place your order/spec then Porsche ask for 10% of the value of your order.

why OPC buck this is off hand, maybe phone Porsche customer service for advice !

Setting aside the rampant speculation and "my dealer said" comments for one moment biggrin, has anyone else noticed that when you click the PTS option on the Cayman GTS, the 3D representation defaults to a rather fetching orange? type

I found that my local opc word not take a deposit, and worse when I asked when we will hear more about the car said he does not know and will let me know when he does.

Spoke to another who promptly took the 3k and said Thurs will call to firm things up.

I doubt this will be another CR discounted new few months later, one reason market is stronger, but also it will be more substantially different in the headline stuff the masses like, more power etc and the gt badge carries a lot of clout.

& the market is buoyant right now, lifting everything.

2011/12 - 997.RS - circa £90k for a good one, RHD 4.0RS - circa £200k

The embargo lifts at midnight tonight - you won't be disappointed, unless you were hoping for PDK....
