they have nerfed the car by not providing a pdk transmission.

this now becomes and almost car just like the Cayman R, 90% great but someone at Porsche pulls a fast one and decides it can't have a pdk transmission due to 'brand positioning' or some other ste.

there will be lots of disappointed people out there today.
Totally agree new, if you have a an early build slot I will begrudgingly take it smile

I think Porsche have delivered with this car - the only (slight) disappointment is the engine - everything else about the spec is absolutely spot-on. All new Aluminium double wishbone rear suspension? Oooh yes please - front end from a GT3, GT3 brakes, club sport option, manual only. God it's like they read my mind.

Pretty much exactly what I'd want from the car and they're even saying the steering is better than it is on the GT3 - what's not to like? It's pretty much perfect!

The only thing that could have made it better would have been a slight rework of the engine to include a higher rev limit for the engine and a dry sumped oil system.
buying or keeping the R now ?

I would have liked passive shocks not PASM and shorter ratios, the GTS does 82 in 2nd at what 7k revs 7.4k revs the GT4 is going to be 86 mph at 7800rpm in 2nd gear, lucky it has 310lb/ft torque at 4750, which when you look at the GT3 it only has a tad more torque but NOT till 6250rpm.

Not sure what that means on UK roads as I find the sweet spot for fast driving will be down in the dumps 3rd gear low revs on the GT4,you will def have to be driving this car on the torque on B roads.

So there is a new dilemma. This or a nice, low mileage 997 GT3?

it was expected, I love it, but it is a parts bin car, just parts from a bin from another model :-)

GT3 front end, well they mean just the LCA's I bet and ARB, 1340kg plus the bits we will add back in, PASM, long ratios

it's not bespoke imo, it's bespoke from a Cayman point of view but the only new part I see is a rear spring lol

maybe 90mph in 2nd gear !!!

My spyder will prob out drive it (from a fun point of view)it has more bhp/ton, it has GT3 front end, weighs 100kgs less, big brakes, and passive shocks, and real steering.

the GT4 0-124 mph time is also a bit slow at 14.5 seconds The Audi R8 PLus is 10.9 seconds and to put things into perspective the new 488 GTB boast 8.3 !!!! but that is crazy lol (991 GT3 11.2)

GT4 287 bhp/ton people were expecting 300bhp/ton inc me. So it's still slower to 124mph than my old MK2 GT3 !!

but people will just quote me and laugh about drag racing but I still think 14.5 to 124mph is a bit too slow for this car.

Its going to do fast laps time because of 245/295 cup 2 tyres and a correct engine layout, grip will be massive.

And that launch car looks like a £85k car to me.

Still surprised at cars to be delivered at the end of March!

Anyone know when it will appear on the configurator?

Priced my spec up and its 105.000€ before taxes and without PCCB, at this time more than twice the price of a mint Cayman R with 1000 miles and perfect spec. Exactly the price of a base 991 C2S.

The GT4 is nice and would clearly wipe the floor with the CR on the track but I don't think I'm the target audience. Two 991 GT3 owners I know are getting one as a manual track car to rag on, maybe that's Porsche's plan. I'm sure the car will sell like crazy.

I need to sleep on it - I'm not over the moon about the engine but everything else is fine by me. I'm sure I'd love this thing but don't want to do anything rash and have to see about cost to change in my spec. I'm wondering if it's worth holding out for a GT4RS - I actually had both in my original LOI, so yes some thinking needs to be done.

Reading a bit further, I think cmoose is right per above. rear suspension is not double wishbone or multi link but just an adaptation of the existing machperson struts.

That's normal - Porsche GB doesn't understand this Internets thingy - the messenger with the spec parchment in a cleft stick won't have reached Dover yet from Stutgart, then it's a couple of changes of horse after that...
