All seems to be the same to me, the only duff info is OPC's guessing specs and people posting them.

the numbers could turn out as many as the R!only the numbers coming in 2015 have been posted which if the car doesnt arrive to late 3rd quarter 2015 then whats coming in 2016?the R originally was limited in early production but like the spyder was not a sales success so many cars at the end of production were hanging around in dealers!the impression i get is there will be enough cars just depends if you want to be first or last!
the price is almost certainly going to be £80-90k any cheaper and its going to cross the price of a nicely specd gts!
its almost certain to show up in geneva march 2015 although i thought it would have happened in LA (which still might happen)as the americans bought more so in to the R with some 3500 sold there.
all that remains engine size, power and gearbox!my money is on a 3.8 with 400-425hp which would warrant the extra £25-30k over a base caymanS

Who knows who's guessing and who's in the know though? smile

Gear box, numbers, Dates and NA/turbo has been posted why are people going round in circles again in a frenzy with the same questions ?

OPC's don't have any spec , so don't hassle them, you guys will know before the OPC's

They know the numbers and the embargo dates and some one has posted both of those which are correct.
I even confirmed the numbers from the poster many pages back.

Numbers are a bit high imo but less than the number of Cayman R's which were sold in the UK.
If you want a rarer car get your name down on the Spyder ;-)
I gotta agree about us going in circles.

Just have to be patient .

Assuming this is correct then one happy bunny here with cheque book poised. Has to be an N/A for me, not the slightest bit interested in a turbo, I want instant throttle response and lots of revs. 360HP is lowish for a 3.6L so lots of tuning potential. PDK for me please but please please keep the ridiculous final drive out of the equation. It's a specialist low volume car so I don't give a FXXK about co2 and fuel economy. Max speed at peak power in 7th please Herr Porsche. slightly moist with anticipation.

So your answer to isaldiri's question:

That is fair enough but at risk of repeating myself, what then is the point of coming here just to tell everyone else you know but you aren't telling....?
It's prompts people with their names down to go and ask their respecting OPC, if their OPC then say "we have no issue you posting on the net"
doesn't stand any longer?

That quote was about numbers and the date of release people were harping on about.

Numbers have been posted now.

Hmmmm.....

I'll be a little disappointed if this info is correct. That's not much of an increase on an S, never mind a GTS. Whilst 400 or more always sounded optimistic, 380 or so seemed more credible....

Could one of the special posters say whether 360PS is correct or incorrect?

360PS is only 355bhp, so just 15bhp more than the GTS. Couldn't they achieve that with a fancy exhaust?!
Is the weight saving significant??

+1

If MrDemon has been handcuffed by his Porsche source from feeding us information, maybe MrsDemon will oblige?

Not necessarily, though I'm told it won't be. Plus any self respecting PH'r wants to be able to post that he/she owns "the last true.........." (fill in the blanks as applicable) and manual naturally aspirated would be quite the coup round these parts smile
Told by who ? You have some inside info too now?
Jeez I'm the only one that knows Nuffink and I've actually owned a 911 or 10

I didn't imagine a post from "falkedrei" did I...? It was an interesting first post....

It said that the GT4 won't be the car many here have been looking far. That that car, with carbon parts, roll cage and 3.8 engine had been greenlighted but this GT4 isn't it. That the GT4 is here to stay in the range as a NA "drivers car" version of the GT3 with less of a focus on lap times. Not as a one-off. Also that there were more (2 more?) Cayman models to come, and that future base and S models will be 4-cyl turbocharged.

Probably more that I forgot, although I think that captures some of the key points. Or did I imagine it all?

It was a fast and fleeting visit that's for sure.

I switched my order to the GT4 RS last week. :-)

Story doesn't mention weight, though notes that the mule has ceramic brakes.
ETA: when I replied the preceding 5 or 6 posts weren't there. 4 cylinder turbo 981 cars is the future though - perhaps even 991 cars. For me though, if the GT4 is turbo, I'm probably out

But I assume you were happy with my lengthier explanation that at least one other agrees with?

Let me be a little bit clearer - I don't fking care what transmission it comes with and I am sorry if that upsets you but I, me, myself simply don't fking care.

I'm off to the OPC for a chat (got tired of playing phone tag all week) when I get over this hangover...

What upsets me is that people here assume the only difference between a manual and a PDK car is that in one you get to stir the box with a lever...

It's not that simple, is it? Do they have the same number of gears? Do they have the same ratios or same final drive?

If people prefer a manual, that's fine. If a PDK is offered with closer ratios, especially if it's an 'S' then I am going guess that Porsche have optimised the chassis and engine mapping for that 'box.

I don't want to spend a fk load of money on an unoptimised car. Thus, I trust Porsche to lead my decision making. If they supply manual only then that will be the best car they can deliver with a manual 'box. If they offer two options, which are identical in every way other than 'box then there is a decision to be made and I want the best car they can produce.

Would people really choose a manual over PDK if it had horrendously long gearing vs a short geared PDK for what is meant to be the best Cayman for the track ever made?
