If you think they might be worried now, wait until they announce the manual version...

Looking at these new pictures, the front overhang looks worryingly low! On the gt4 that is.
Having seen it in person I can tell you that it absolutely is and it worries me too. The way the yellow one sits at the moment I'd have to plan my routes ahead of time to avoid certain speed bumps in my area that would rip the splitter clean off at any speed. There was also a white one driving at the press announcement and that seemed to have a much more sensible ride height but the wheel wells just looked off.
The problem isn't ground clearance itself, it's the ramp angle due the way the low splitter arcs forward. I'm sure there will be huge demand for aftermarket lifter systems. Techart, are you listening?

The thought of ordering my GT4 in grey instead of PTS, replacing both bumpers with GTS parts and removing the wing has crossed my mind more than once since I’ve seen it in person but there's no way Porsche warranty would let me get away with that... if it is even possible. biggrin

Clearly they are positioning the car as a "3rd car"-weekend-track-toy rather than a usable allrounder, more so than the 911 GT3. I have to say that bothers me a bit but apparently it's what the market asked for.

I didn't take any pictures because there were a few dozen photographers with millions worth of camera equipment in front of me. biggrin

Only the yellow one was actually accessible after the event.
Definitely one of the better colours. I don't think the "lairy" colours will work on the GT4 for me, it just doesn't look aggressive enough to pull it off. That being said mine is ordered as PTS in rivera blue. whistle

I see what you mean about the centre caps, they do look quite large in comparison.
What was the official GT3 'ring time ?
I could only find 7:32:** on the net, which, if a PDK Gt4 was -10sec, then that's similar, which I'd not expect from the Porsche marketing rule makers, no ?

Thanks for posting this. That front lip looks REALLY low. Sounds like it means business!

Call me crazy but I don't think that sounds as good as the GTS, it just sounds a bit flat at the top end. Almost all videos show the car short shifting or at least it sounds like it, maybe that is why? We always knew it wouldn't be a screamer but I didn't expect to "hear" that from the engine sounds. Hmm.

Official GTS video for comparison:

Going by the complaints on PH about farty 981 exhausts, I can see Carnewal coming up with a revised, quiet version for this car?

Front looks as low as any previous GT3, so for me would cause the same issues I had with one of those, not much use as a daily, especially for business use with unpredictable destinations?

Hate the rear wing (also previous RS's and 7.2/991 GT3), it would look so much better with just the ducktail, but then is this a track car or a sporty road car? They should make it easily removable with cover plates for the strut holes - I think at least 50% of owners would leave it off, but then, as there will only be a handful of them, I suppose that is a moot point?

Apart from this GT price bubble and the "potential" cash-in, plus the modern tech of Bluetooth etc, on the surface, I would choose my old 7.1 GT3 over this (although a drive in one may alter that)?

Very interesting!!!

If you watch these videos closely there appears to be two different dasboards. One with yellow needles and dials which mayches the initial press materials and configurator and another one with all red needles and dials plus a gear selection display in the centre of the tachometer. Both clearly say GT4 so there is no mistaking them for the GT3RS dash either!

Could this be confirmation that PDK is indeed coming later? confused

I couldn't find a tach with yellow needles in any of those videos.
The gear selection display goes completely dark whenever the transmission is in neutral, so that's why it's not showing in some of the videos that were taken while the car was standing still. You can even see the gear selection display going invisible between gear shifts.

Estimated range on a 2/3 full tank... 75 miles. laugh
