Very interesting!!!

If you watch these videos closely there appears to be two different dasboards. One with yellow needles and dials which mayches the initial press materials and configurator and another one with all red needles and dials plus a gear selection display in the centre of the tachometer. Both clearly say GT4 so there is no mistaking them for the GT3RS dash either!

Could this be confirmation that PDK is indeed coming later? confused
I couldn't find a tach with yellow needles in any of those videos.
The gear selection display goes completely dark whenever the transmission is in neutral, so that's why it's not showing in some of the videos that were taken while the car was standing still. You can even see the gear selection display going invisible between gear shifts.

Estimated range on a 2/3 full tank... 75 miles. laugh
Look at this video - (the first one posted) - Yellow needles & dials from 5secs into the clip.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH5_JK_kSo8

All the photos on the media gallery and on the configurator show yellow needs & dials too, albeit I accept it shows the gear change indicator you mentioned (so quashes my PDK theory!). Odd that most of the videos do show all red needles and dials though. Wonder if they are colour coordinated to the stitching?

Is anyone able to overlay the previous generation GT3 models onto this graph, going by suspension spring rates. I know that the PSM etc will play apart in how it handles but indulge me

Just watched the press conference. Pretty sure I heard that a pure race car version of the GT4 will be released later this year. I assume this is for the GT4 series rather than a GT4 RS. I'm more than happy with the "base" GT4 but from the comments on this thread sounds like some will want an even more track focused version than this.

I did a bit of google research with regards to ground clearance, all without lifters activated:

Approach angles:

987 Cayman: 12.0°
987 Cayman PASM: 11.5°
987 Cayman R: 10.3°
Lotus Evora 400: 10.0°
981 Cayman GTS 9.2°
981 Cayman GT4: 6.0°
Carrera GT 5.7°
997 GT3 & GT3 RS 5.6°

values in italic are from unofficial sources (posted on forums), the others are directly from official porsche datasheets (and the lotus press release).

I have to admit I'm not as ecstatic with my GT4 order as I used to be but hopefully the handling will make up for everything.
It is a PTS order for next year so fortunately there is plenty of time to test drive and decide.

What bothers me the most is that the engine sounds underwhelming and even a bit "annoying" in some of the videos. Dare I say even a bit diesel-ish? Maybe they cut the video in such a manner as to not steal the limelight from the GT3/GT3 RS. As somebody mentioned there's definitely something odd going on with the shifting.
Thanks for that post, more focused car than most punters will have expected.

Unfortunately that graph isnt based on anything scientific. Add some axis, make people think there is an actual process involved.
Its just a marketing thing to show how Porsche view the relative positions of the car on two subjective scales.

On that graph, GT4 less useable day to day than a GT3, I guess down to the PDK box?

That's just the difference between day and night time shots!

Yes - I would. Although I do think that even the base GT4 will be a truly wonderous machine.

Has anyone had any further updates from their dealer today, regarding allocations and build dates,, now that the car is officially launched?

Is it? So the Yellow turns red at night? Assume that applies to past GT3's then too? confused

how do you want this answering ? in simple honest terms yes ,I am getting a car and yes I had to finalize my spec yesterday,I have no further info.

to answer the more pedantic ,I dont have an order number or anything or a confirmed delivery date ,just an indication of when the delivery will be,so according to them Im not getting.

take your pick.

Congratulations it will be an excellent car. Sorry I was not trying to be funny about it. Just that I have a deposit down and my dealer is still unwilling to tell me anything officially so I am curious as to what other dealers are doing

The answer is "nobody knows for sure" but Andreas Preuninger hinted at future models if the reception of the GT4 is good. Demand for the GT4 is quite decent and an RS would be the most obvious future model so I'd say chances are good.

Love your work; I've been unable to find approach angles. Can you find them for the 996 and 991 GT3?

So have I missed something but I haven't really learnt anymore from the Geneva launch ?
Only new fact is that worldwide production will be 2000. Only new observation from photos is that front looks very low and may make use as a daily drive impractical ? Still no news on build dates. Watched the web press event at 10.30 but told me nothing!

Going to Geneva so maybe find out more
