Call from my OPC first thing and I am now getting a car this year, cant wait now. Previously knew I was getting one but not expected until next year.
Had confirmation I will be 4th to get a car at my OPC and was told that they are currently doing the April / May allocations. Then June and July build slots will be confirmed in May, August and Sept confirmed 2 months before. Was told as soon as my build date is confirmed on the system I will get a call to lock in spec.
Anyone else had their confirmed date for the invite to Silverstone through? My OPC wasn't 100% sure of the date and is going to let me know. I am away in Vegas for first 3 weeks in May and if its then I will be p155ed! (Will have to send a friend).

Congratulations! Does that mean that your OPC will be getting more than 3 for 2015? Did they say how many they are now getting?Had confirmation I will be 4th to get a car at my OPC and was told that they are currently doing the April / May allocations. If you are referring to the invite to a half-day at PEC Silverstone then this is for you to arrange a convenient date when they have availability to drive their GT4.Reviews - disappointing or not?
I'll start by claiming a lack of bias: I owned a 996.1 GT3, and for over a year have been trying to find a mint LHD Euro orange 997.1 GT3 RS, which I am still looking for but I decided to hedge my bets with a GT4 order.
We probably all hoped that Motorsport had made some tweaks to the motor that would elevate it to GT status but kept them quiet to keep Carrera owners happy, and that the gearing would be matched by the torque. However putting that optimism aside, I think the reviews meet rational expectations - except for Chris Harris's criticism of mute steering but the other reviews say the feel is very good.
Despite a lack of GT3 top end zing and tall gearing I don't think we'll find the GT4 exactly sluggish. It has:
- More power than any 996 GT3 or GT3 RS
- More torque than the above and the 997.1 GT3 and GT3 RS
- Less weight than any GT3 or GT3 RS
- The same 0-100 km/h time as the 996.2 GT3 RS
- A Nordschleife lap time closer to the Carrera GT, RS 4.0 and 991 GT3 than the 996.1 GT3
- A Nordschleifer lap time faster than the 997.1 GT3 RS and the same as the 997.2 GT3
It will also be more confidence inspiring than a GT3, especially a pre-991, on off-camber downhill bends, through a series of rapid direction changes, in bends on a crest, in a tightening radius and anywhere else that a rear engine wants to carry on in its own direction.
And it has two boots and it's 'cheap'. Nevertheless, in case there's a GT4 RS with 3.4 litre 335 ps (more likely Carrera 3.8 with power kit) and close ratios I'm first on my dealer's list...
