Cannot see it being priced only 10% above Gts!!
More speculation I guess

from a renlist member posted over the weekend.

They called to say the car is confirmed and it will be called the Cayman GT4. Official launch is February 5th.

Specific details were sketchy but they alluded to some interesting points...

- will come as manual or PDK
- 380-400bhp
- naturally aspirated
- priced at 10% higher than GTS
- built in Weissach by Motorsport
- developed by Andreas Preuninger
- Clubsport spec an option
I can see why a race version might be built in Weissach by Motorsport (a la RSR/Cup) but even for a (low) volume model it seems unlikely. I wonder if there is a homologation road version and a race version and the two are getting merged in process of sifting out the various info streams.

Costing only 10% more than a Gts will give you circa 360-370hp and from the current 3.4 and not the 3.8

Excellent and well found out. With Clubsport do you get more, or less, equipment?

Could be One is a tuned 3.4 dfi 9A1 with all the comforts the other a detuned 991 gt3 stripped out racer

time for a render but it looks nice ;-)

cannot get 370BHp out the 3.4 very easy with a 200,000 mile warranty
So it has to be a bigger CC engine.

the question is 3.6 or 3.8

100% not a 3.8

I just cannot see it being a 3.6 unless they have an over supply of blocks from the 997.2laugh
If it's the 3.8 then it's going to cost more than 10% ! And then why detune it to say 380hp
360hp is achievable out of the 3.4 maybe more at a push as the 991 is already running 350hp or is that near the limit!

So my money is on the 370hp 3.4 then?

So to sum up it's going to cost circa £70k plus extras be a manual and maybe Pdk have the 3.4 engine with 370hp and built in the same volume as the R. And later a stripped out RS version will follow.then later in the year a circa 360hp spyder will arrive.
Let's hope the styling is as nice as the render but the back end worries me!

Please God not centre locks - sold my Carerra GTS because of maintenance issues.

Aside from the front aero and rear wing, looks just like a low Cayman - hope it is a bit more muscular.

What makes you say there will be RS stipped version??

It would be useful to know if this is pure speculation, because I will be taking my name off the GT4 list and waiting for RS model if this is true!

Carerra 3.4 engine = 350HP
Throttle Body/plenum/headers =>20HP
ECU tune to open throttle more = >20HP

Seems easy...

no one can crack the new 981 ecu and it's been out ages you are stuck with what Porsche give you now days, bar deleting 2 of the 4 cats for about 10bhp max.

My thoughts were how Porsche could get the HP, not some ECU hack like the 987.

As you probably know, TPC and Fabspeed do piggy backs for 981 and 991 Turbo, respectively and no one has (yet?) got round the checksum issue.

Porsche don't have to crack anything - its their code.
They can make it play whatever tune they like.

100-110hp/litre is an easy thing for Porsche to achieve
Cayman GTS 3.4 - 100hp/l
991 Carrera 3.4 - 102hp/l

X51 naturally aspirated cars from 997 generation make the 107hp/l (3.8litre, 408hp)
991 GTS is up at 113hp/l

So 370-375hp from the 3.4 is 108-110hp/l
This would be cracking.

3.6 would be able to bring in a bit more torque which is what people are really looking for in this car i think.

MrD was telling us not so long ago 360hp was achievable from our 987.2 !
So for porsche 370hp is easy!
The x51 treatment to the 3.4 will improve torque as well as hp!

that's removing CATS and CO2 levels running 99 ron, Porsche will have to do this with 4 CATS in place and low co2 levels big mpg and on 95 ron.
