Interesting that Porsche only shower the GT4, GT3RS and 918 Spyder at Geneva.
I wasn't sure about the colour of the lighting --- the GT3RS looked a strange shade and the Yellow GT4 possibly a little "acid".
But for me there wasn't a car to compare with the GT4 at it's price.
But this was a big surprise !!

It "seems" to me, from reading reviews, is that the only real dissapointment with it, is the engine?
Perhaps they would have done the GT badge more justice, if they had squeezed the ponies out of a 3.4 by upping the revs?
Who knows or cares, it has already sold out?
The engine disappointment if you can call it that, is surely only in comparison to the GT3 engine ?? Perhaps they would have done the GT badge more justice, if they had squeezed the ponies out of a 3.4 by upping the revs?

I imagine still a pretty good engine in the scheme of things.

Thanks for asking Adam. That makes some sense but please see a picture of the cabin of the car that Chris Harris reviewed with Guards Red seat belts, deviated stitching in red and no centre marker.
We obviously think in a very similar way as I also asked about the cars in Portugual not having the stripe despite having the contrast stitch! He said not to pay too mych attention to those press cars as they were all pre-production cars and the final spec is like the Geneva car and will have the stripe.

Agreed, the new GT cars from Porsche were as good as expected, GT4 maybe a bit better in hindsight. But the GT40 blew my socks off. I am going to have a serious think about taking the plunge.
Customers were invited to purchase the previous GT by SVT Europe on the basis of car buying history and relationship with Ford. Based on the low volume and desirability of this car, I expect the same to happen again so I've already thrown my hat into the ring. Don't think about it too long - you snooze, you lose!

You could argue that the engine choice fits Preuninger's claim that the car is for fun rather than numbers. A high revving 3.4 would not have the torque, which should be great for oversteer (at least Meaden's video shows that you can unstick the rear on the road). Compared to the GT3, the GT4 has the advantage that its mid-engine layout will make oversteer easier to initiate and catch. I think this could well prove more rewarding for keen but non-pro drivers than the extra revs and sound of the GT3. Especially if the price makes the difference between having a GT4 or no GT.Perhaps they would have done the GT badge more justice, if they had squeezed the ponies out of a 3.4 by upping the revs

The Ford GT is certainly striking and in the rendering of it in yellow it recalls the sensationally beautiful Muira SV. http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/FutureVehicles/FordGT It is also interesting to see the incorporation of endurance sports car racers' deep air channels between the cockpit and rear wings. However, like most American design (except Apple) I think it needs more subtlety - even as a supercar - and less size.

I haven't had an invite to buy one, and I've bought 3, yes THREE new Transit Connects over the last 12 years.
Think I best take legal advice...
I'm proper miffed.

With the previous GT, you had to register with Ford following which SVT Europe sent a form requesting your car buying history etc ... Despite your impressive Ford buying history, the criteria for an invitation is a mystery so don't be miffed if you don't get one. Good luck! 0-124 is the new figure now we have cars doing a ton in 5 it's meaning less.
The 0-124 was not as fast as expected though @ 14.5 That's a second slower than a 996 gt3 ! And only a second quicker than an R .
A 991 s does 13.2 so quite a lot faster.
Drag from that big rear wing ?The 0-124 was not as fast as expected though @ 14.5 That's a second slower than a 996 gt3 ! And only a second quicker than an R .
A 991 s does 13.2 so quite a lot faster.

981 GTS Cw 0,31
981 GT4 Cw 0,32
So mostly that plus the long gearing and maybe higher weight.
But I think there's something wrong with the figures, the sport auto supertest lists the 991S PDK (!) 0-200 with 14,1 sec and manual Cayman R with 16,9 sec. Admittedly that CR weighted 1385kg wet without the driver but even 100kg wouldn't shave off 1,4 seconds.
Can anyone help with any reliable information. I just need to know whether OPCs have any information yet about their allocation of GT4s as I have paid my deposit and need to know the likelihood of actually getting a car. I've been in and asked but get the "we have no information about our allocation" answer. Is this stonewalling - or correct. In times of war you don't know who to believe!

This is correct. I'm number 2 at my OPC and I've been repeatedly told that I'm in a fantastic position but until I get a build date then nothing is 100% guaranteed. No idea as to when they will arrive but it must be soon. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
