Hi Folks,
Just an update I think some of you will find interesting but tbh of no great surprise. I placed a deposit for a CGTS in Feb this year with an expected delivery of Jan 2016. I started to have doubts even though the CGTS is a great car. I remembered when I sold my last two 911's (a 993 & more recently a 996 turbo) I started to regret it & missed them. The 911 is so iconic. Would I have the same feeling over the CGTS. So I have a 997 Gen 2 C2S PDK lined up (agreed price etc & going again this weekend for a test drive). But thought maybe I could swop my deposit onto a GT4. Just had a reply back from the OPC saying they will be getting three GT4's this year, 4 next year & 20 on the list who have placed deposits. So no chance. I have asked whether they will be taking deposits as far ahead for 2017. Has anyone else asked the same question?

-they dont know how many for 2016, but less than 2015 is the guess
-there is no point in them holding more than about 10 deposits
-production of this version of gt4 is probably only upto summer 2016
I'm having a dillema... My GT4 is July build but due to the fact I want buckets that is an 8 week delay, that also takes me into August shut down so it will become an October build so could be as late as Nov delivery. Now I really want PTS but can't currently get a straight answer regarding availability. I now have to finalise my order, Guards Red is my fall back, but I would be willing for the car to come next March if I could get PTS. Anybody else in the same boat, got any more knowledge or a solution?!
DMC2 - just wait until the '2nd' batch and PTS (if available). Otherwise youll be taking control of a car coming up to winter where upon i imagine it wouldnt be used much.
However, you could take delivery of a car in a colour you want in Spring where you have the spring and summer to enjoy.

I am - I have spoken both to my contact at the OPC and also to a contact in head office, PTS is by no means a certainty for 2016 build, so you might be delaying for no real reason.seawise said:

That's what I heard too and that's my worry. I've got my deposit in for the RS so maybe I make sure it is PTS and live with guards on the GT4. First world problems...DMC2 said:

Don't worry; just feel smug you are one of the lucky ones to get your hands on one. Tried to swop my deposit from CGTS to GT4 & was told by my OPC that they have seven GT4's in total up to the end of 2016 with 20 deposits placed. I am very jealous DMC2 said:

true, but if they announce a GT4 RS and I am lucky enough to get one, then i'll just trade the GT4 in against the RS and they can make a big profit on the resale and everyone wins (I suppose) - what a funny car market we are currently seeingDMC2 said:

If I were you I'd get the car as soon as I was able. Probably wouldn't wait for bucket seats if you are likely to be picking up an RS in the future. seawise said:

Yep, very true. GT3's going for £50K above list on the used market. I guess I have myself to blame for being too late. In the meantime I have a 997 Gen 2 lined up which I may go for & cancel the deposit on the CGTS & maybe watch out for the next Gen GT4. I am in the same position where I have missed out but it seems there will be a few coming onto the market early doors for a premium.
What is anyones view of the likely premium I am being told a nicely specced car (80+) could be £120k which seems a lot in percentage terms far more than when the 991GT3's first came on the market they are barely that now. I would probably go to + £20K for the right car .
Views welcomed.
