Same with GT3s. :
I have a view on cars I have owned and not scared to voice a bad opinion even when I still own them.I have a 3 major reservations on the GT4, hence why I am now keeping the R and will see what happens.
no one knows yet how these will be and even the 1sr few drives by me will only be at Silverstone on a smooth track so it will be a long wait before we see some real info, as all the mag reviews were
rubbish regarding how it feels and drives.

Sportauto supertest of the GT4 is now available on the iPad... very interesting read with lots of juicy details. I'll update this posting with interesting details as I read them.
For the first time it's not Horst von Saurma driving (he retired with the last issue) so the times are not quite as comparable as they used to be but as expected, it's fast.
The car had buckets, PCCB but no clubsport package.
Nordschleife: 7:42.4
Hockenheim: 1.10,1
385 PS @ 7175 rpm
447 Nm
on a Maha dyno at 14° air temperature, 19° intake temperature
Weight with full tank and 75kg driver: 1454 kg
Weight distribution without driver: 44,6% front/55,4% rear
the article also has full corner weights with and without driver.
9°C air temperature, 17°C road temperature, 1019 mbar air pressure:
0-40 km/h: 1,6s
0-100 km/h: 4,5s
0-160 km/h: 9,3s
0-200 km/h: 14,5s
200-0 km/h: 4,7s
=total time: 19,2s (GT3: 16,6s, 996 GT3 RS: 18,2s, 991 C2S: 18,8s)
downforce at 200 km/h: 12kg front, 31kg rear (GT3: 18/29kg)
According to the article the car has more front downforce with steel brakes than with PCCBs because the rotors are smaller and allow more air to vent through the wheels wheels. Compared to PCCBs the steels have 5 kg more front downforce with the inserts and 7kg without the inserts. Haha, this is why I love Sportauto.
The car had significant understeer in Hockenheim and on the Nordschleife tourist driver training laps (I find this odd - Horst von Saurma didn't do training laps... he just did one warm up lap and then went for it). They fixed it by lowering the front by 1,1 mm and a new set of MPSC2s.
They would prefer shorter gearing. The shocks are Bilstein, identical to the GT3 with a new setup. The steering is also GT3 hardware with new calibration.
There are some more quotes from Andreas Preuniger. Long term the are planning to offer both PDK and manual in GT cars, but they are focusing on PDK in the GT3 because there's more competition from other brands in that segment.
The GT4 will absolutely not be the last N/A GT car and he explicitly wouldn't rule out a GT4 RS, but not in 2015 or 2016.

So all signs point to the GT4 RS coming as a 981.2 "send off" special edition in 2017, possibly with the GT3 engine. The Cayman version of the 997 GT3 RS 4.0.Edited by EricE on Thursday 16th April 10:16

Don't worry yourself over it :-)
I am still getting my GT4 and have a Sept build, time will tell which one I favour.
Don't be so condescending. It was a legitimate question. What is so special about your Spyder suspension? I am still getting my GT4 and have a Sept build, time will tell which one I favour.
Regardless, if it's not stock then it isn't comparison, is it.
And I don't have a Spyder or a GT4, so have no horse in the race. Just wanted an explanation on your post.

I would not say my post is stating patronizing superiority, I just don't post what I have done to my cars these days because of the crap I get.Regardless, if it's not stock then it isn't comparison, is it.

Imo a non stock car is a great comparison esp as not many people will get a GT4, and may want to buy a 911 GTS or an R and spend 10k on it.
so a modded R for say £55k would be a perfect comparison to a GT4.

If you don't want to post what you have done to your car, saying "I'd rather not say, thanks" would be fine. Saying "Don't worry yourself over it" sounds like "run on little boy". Very condescending. Why are you talking about an R now. We were talking about your Spyder a minute ago.
Very confused.

Thanks for that, should that read 7:42.4?They would prefer shorter gearing. The shocks are Bilstein, identical to the GT3 with a new setup. The steering is also GT3 hardware with new calibration.

Quite - easy to find out what mods David has done - from previous posts.
from memory on the suspension side:
Do you remember what has improved the power to weight by more than the stock 14% difference to the GT4?from memory on the suspension side:
- RSS LCAs
- Monoball joints
- and uprated toe links - I think.
