GT4RS - the 991GTS engine ought to be plenty.
Yes, ample, it's power curve is roughly half way between the 997.1 and 997.2 GT3's.I think that was the interview with Evo. Preuninger also promised a few years more of NA in GT cars. If all the normal engines are going turbo it might increase the chance of a GT motor for the next GT4 as it won't be in direct competition with the more torquey turbo Carrera motors. Now that they're starting to let the Cayman off its leash they might increase space in the engine bay of the facelift.

I'm pretty sure I saw an interview with AP (annoyingly I can't find it now) when he said that the 991 GTS engine wouldn't fit in the GT4 because of the power kit intake system. If memory serves he said his first idea was to use it as it had the characteristics he wanted and it would keep development costs down. However, they had to design a custom intake for the engine to get it to fit in the GT4 - and he was clear that this is a special piece of work in its own right. He also said that the GT3 engine was even bigger and definitely wouldn't fit either (although he didn't want to use it anyway as it was too expensive for the price point they were targeting). FWIW I personally doubt very much there will be a 981 GT4RS I think they've pushed it as far as they can for now and have too much on their plate to get it done before the next car arrives. For me the GT4 is a send-off car for the naturally aspirated Boxster/Cayman era.
Tuners in the US (e.g BGB) and also in Germany (e.g. Ehresmann) have managed to fit X51 engines into 981 Caymans and Boxsters without too much change and running full power too!.....Good news at last, been told my OPC is getting 6 cars and I'm number 5 on the list.
I've been playing with the configurator and come up with a basic spec which ticks the right boxes for me.
Weekend use and maybe 6 trackdays per year so about 3000 miles per year.

A couple of things I'm unsure about ... I'm planning on keeping it for at least 5 years so ...
1. Will not having PCM be an issue as it's out of date so quickly and phones etc. are getting so much better.
2. Do you think PDK will be offered in the second production run? Having just watched the 7:42 ring lap the gearing looks very long and the PDK might suit the car better. Did look awesome though....
Been told to expect December 2015 delivery but wondering if I'd be better off delaying until March 2016. Does anyone know when the second batch will be manufactured?

not sure how you can get a DEC car being 5th unless you spec chairs not buckets.I've been playing with the configurator and come up with a basic spec which ticks the right boxes for me.

so is it confirmed now then, has the allocation been increased. I was told a few weeks ago by my OPC that they were getting only 4 cars for 2015 and probably less for 2016. It seems from some posts on here that people who are 6th are getting a car this year.
Allocation has definitely been increased. Interesting to compare the sound of hot laps at the Nurburgring in:
997.1 GT3 RS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-VFkzRln4c
997.2 GT3 (Walter Rohrl) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlWQy-gljhs&sp...
GT4 (Sport Auto) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB9qJlpHvEs&sp...
The RS 3.6 certainly has the most exciting sound but the two 3.8s are surprisingly evenly matched. The GT4 has much less tyre squeal than the GT3s - mid-engine balance or Cup 2 vs Cup+ tyres?

Fwiw the N spec Cup + are faux Cups. They are essentially a typical high performance street tyre with Cup branding rather than the track focused tyre and compound of the regular Cup. They don't feel like Cups, they have different tread pattern (for wet weather improvements) and they are certainly slower in comparison.
