Took delivery of my gt4 5th of May. The gearing was an issue in the first week or so, but i have since adapted and no longer think about it.
Very interested in this. Was it an easy fix and does this negate the Porsche warranty if it wasn't fitted by Porsche? TksI still don't get the gearing (non) issue. It still looks like it had significantly shorter ratios than my 996.2 GT3 gearing with very similar BHP. Not a car that gets any criticism from anyone (bar MrDemon) about its gearing. Certainly not once stopped me enjoying my car.
Or am I missing something?

The gearing in my 997 GT3 does not bother me either. I mentioned it originally because I know Mr Demon has a bugbear about gearing being overly long and he in fact said if its too long he will sell his GT4.Or am I missing something?

I think he means that "he" has changed the way he drives or just gotten used to it, unless I'm reading it wrong.
Nope having read it back you are in fact correct. Got a little too excited reading it. Guess the only way to know is once you have driven the car. Gearing on my 997.1 GT3 is perfect I have to say will reserve judgement until I haven driven the GT4, but in order to be in a position to get one of these cars from new one had to make the leap of faith - given Porsche's history I somehow doubt i'll be disappointed and as our European PH'd states, you can drive round it. as usual it's death by the PH glitterati who oddly haven't ordered one.

you are missing some thing as you now drive a short ratio GTS most of the time ;-)Or am I missing something?
But yes for people to say GT4 has long ratio and not the GT3 is daft, but then jurno's do talk st and have latched onto my posts it seems lol.

Just a little self-centric that! Even allowing for the fact that you are the main man and the only source of the truth when it comes to GT4 information.... What did you expect? Journalists to dare to express their own opinions following test drives? Lol indeed! But yes for people to say GT4 has long ratio and not the GT3 is daft, but then jurno's do talk st and have latched onto my posts it seems lol.

Nothing at all to do with the the need to have 4 seats every day of the week to do the school run. No. Not that at all.
But having done 10,000 miles in 12 months in the old 996.2 GT3 nail, I can say without a doubt.....I'd prefer to use that car above any car I've ever owned. For ANY journey
What's strange is that the gearing in the GTS actually feels longer than in the GT3, even though it isn't.

The delivery over the last 1000rpm with the power kit is pretty sweet. It's just lower down the Rev range. Doesn't feel as torquey and nothing like as special. Hard to explain. The SharkWerks on the GTS does at least make it sound fabulous now
I've just come back from the Nurburgring and was lucky enough to have a passenger lap in a GT4. The grip levels are insane for a production car. Looks like a really easy car to drive even when it went out of shape. There was another guy that had modified his through manthey racing, with full cage, endless pads and kW full race suspension but I didn't manage to get out to compare. First signs are very exciting. Just thought I'd share. Can't wait for mine to arrive

Sounds like Porsche have a winner here - an at a sensible price too.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
